I find it all so boring now. Its mechanical and boring...
I think that most of the “social media influencers” who shoot onlyfans are the same type of people from the 2000’s who did traditional porn. I mean at the end of the day they are just young guys who want to make some money without actually working. And I feel like for most consumers they don’t care if a guy has a social media following or not, as long as they’re straight and hot we’ll spend money lol.I think we are looking a this matter from different perspectives.
What you write makes sense for new creators who aren’t big influencers.
I was thinking more about creators who already have a sizable following on social media who only need to lead a small portion of their social followers to Onlyfans to create large income.
There are many examples of guys who wouldn’t do traditional porn by end up creating explicit stuff. One example is mrmuscle who now does full sex scenes like a traditional porn star. But he started out with faceless photos showing parts of his soft dick, then faceless stuff showing his soft cock, then faceless stuff showing his hard cock and fully explicit stuff showing his face. This transition took like 3 years and all the while he was able to milk his thirsty fans by giving them more and making him a millionaire even before showing fully explicit stuff with his face. This wouldn’t have been possible with traditional porn, where you either do a solo or sex video or don’t associate yourself with a porn company at all. Another possibility that Onlyfans allows to make big money is showing your best stuff only as PTV content. This is exactly what e. g. Parker Egerton does. He shows nothing explicit on his wall but via PTV content there are jerk off videos and sex tapes available for around 100 dollars per customer. And you can even make millions by showing nothing explicit at all, even in PTV content, like Harry Jowsey, who claims to have make over 3 million dollars on Onlyfans.
Overall Onlyfans can be very lucrative for people who already have a large following from another platform. They can milk their fans on their journey of creating more and more daring content, ’showing a more private side’ etc. while some of them never show explicit content. This is the reason why Dani Garcia, Arne vdW, Nate K. Weir, Richard Heinze, Pietro Boselli transitioned to Onlyfans this year. (Or do we think we are going to see Pietro jerking off on Onkyfans, lmao?) I am not saying these guys are hotter than the college guys who needed a quick buck on from the 2000’sl But those college guys were anonymous and often only did it only once. By contrast, the social media influencers on Onlyfans associate their name/fame with their new career path and that’ a driving force in normalizing work in adult content creation.
I take issue with the idea that a market flooded with low quality content is a golden age and not specifically how crashes happen.
I think Onlyfans also fulfills an emotional need for many people and more so than traditional porn. That‘s why these agency sends messages like ”What‘s your name?”, “What are you doing right know?” “Any plans for tonight?”, “Why aren’t you answering my messages?” etc. Sexting is often a big part of the sales on Onlyfans. OnlyFans model becomes millionaire just from 'sexting'I think that most of the “social media influencers” who shoot onlyfans are the same type of people from the 2000’s who did traditional porn. The thing is that Onlyfans is no longer as “revolutionary” as I guess it once was. It’s essentially just a modern day Adult Video Store that sells different pornos from different companies, but in this case it’s agencies not porno companies. However I think Onlyfans will fail because they charge an insane amount more than what the Adult Video Stores charge, and provide a worse product.
Another website I’m sure will take onlyfans place because it’s ran terribly. They allow agencies to run as oligopolies by buying up as many pages as they can and charging an insane amount for the videos. It sucks for us the consumers because it’s sooooo difficult to find new creators who don’t use agencies and charge a decent price. This helps the oligopolies (agencies) block competition and keep their prices high.
Onlyfans needs to stop this or they’re going to end up getting eventually replaced by another, better website. As a consumer I know myself and a lot of other people are fed up. It’s really just a matter of time before a change comes. But it sucks because we’re in the waiting period rn for either Onlyfans to change and get better or another successful competitor to come in the market.
I can totally understand your viewpoint but I think this is also a matter of taste and personal opinion.I take issue with the idea that a market flooded with low quality content is a golden age and not specifically how crashes happen.
That’s usually the narrative that the hidden players promulgate to extract as much as possible from that market before it flatlines - that there is no bubble.I take issue with the idea that a market flooded with low quality content is a golden age and not specifically how crashes happen.

There was a member here (I think he has since deleted his account) who was always posting about his relationship troubles with his various internet boyfriends and I know at least some of them were people he was paying for attention on OnlyFans. I wonder how many of the people who get suckered by those prices are people like that.Onlyfans needs to rein in creators charging content in DMs. It should have stayed as a flat rate sub for pages only. Some creators are too cocky (no pun intended) charging $50+ for dick pics or 5 sec clips. That is robbery and preys on people who are desperate.
None of the alternatives like JustforFans or Fansly ever gained traction. Eventually though in a free market another company is going to replace Onlyfans. I think it’s going to come somewhat quickly because Onlyfans has a lot of lost revenue due to mismanagement. Hopefully Pornhub, Chaturbate or another known company comes out with a similar product to compete.OnlyFans is just a modern Clips4Sale. Another doesn't need to take its place performers already use JustForFans, ManyVids, and Clips4sale
The amount of creators that actually run their page is dwindling by the day lol I kept getting DM's from when I tried a month sub to Peachy_D. I got fed up and called them out on it asking which agency this was lol I blocked them when they kept insisting that it was him lolI also agree, the DM PPV spam is overwhelming, both in price and frequency. I stopped opening messages from people who do this, and only interact with creators who run their own pages.
Also, why doesn't OF let you browse for new creators by content type/categories? It's hard to find new users without knowing their exact page name.
Regarding looking for new creators, I find them from Twitter/X. Creators that I follow retweet other creators' posts and from there I check out their Twitter accounts to see if they are interesting. It's not a perfect system. Some of the creators retweet everyone and anyone whether they are similar to themselves or completely different. In those cases, I turn off receiving their reposts.I also agree, the DM PPV spam is overwhelming, both in price and frequency. I agree 100%. I remember what a big deal it was when Bella Thorne, a professional working actress, joined the platform. Nowadays, any actor in her position joining the site wouldn't even warrant a mention in the national press since it's become so normalized. That isn't to say Onlyfans isn't without its problems, but the concept itself will survive whether or not Onlyfans is still around or not. What differentiates a site like Onlyfans is that it attracts non porn performers and gives customers the opportunity for engagement. Like anything else, those who reward their customers will keep earning thier business, and those who don't will inevitably quit.I think the criticism that‘s been brought up is really valid as I personally feel overwhelmed with all the massages by the agencies and expenses seem to go up and up. But there’s is one thing that Onlyfans revolutionized: Making it possible to gradually transition from being a social media creator to an adult content creator. Many creators on Onlyfans would have never done traditional porn for a studio but being on Onlyfans allows them to head more and more towards porn on their own terms. By now, doing adult work has become quite a normal thing and it’s largely thanks to Onlyfans.
This is how photographer Jade Young put it:

In 2024, we still see many creators transition to Onlyfans who had excluded doing it before: Dani Garcia, Arne vdW, Nate K. Weir, Richard Heinze, Pietro Boselli etc. I don’t see the influx of creators slowing down.
I totally agree that the experience on Onlyfans is becoming increasingly overwhelming and exhausting. And it seems like competition for the subscribers’s attention is getting too much, and it’s hard to separate the accounts with great value to those with terrible value.I also agree, the DM PPV spam is overwhelming, both in price and frequency. I stopped opening messages from people who do this, and only interact with creators who run their own pages.
