Is Onlyfans Dying?

I really hope onlyfans will die. The porn on sites like seancody and corbinfisher was so much better than what we can see today.
First part yes, but those sites and a majority of gay porn studios are white supremacist as hell. (I’m talking to you too, williamhiggins….)

I think they just did the porn which sold and got clicked best. So, it's not really the fault of the porn studios.

From the old videos I’ve seen of both companies when have either of them been good?

Most studios are still very active, more than ever actually! Those studios are also own by porn actors for many! OF won't disappear a multiple billions industry! What i don't like is what was supposed to be amateur is now full professional! And the fact that it shamelessly favor scamming fans!

That is always what happens. It started out as disruptive to the main industry, user-driven, a cottage-industry that was self-regulated, but now it’s become essentially an epigone of the mainstream studio model - with margins to protect and stakeholders to satiate.

Remember prominent YouTube stars at the start? Now look at what goes into it - whole production teams and associated overheads/drama.

Sort of a rant, but does anyone else feel like Onlyfans is dying? Especially this year I feel like the website is noticeably going downhill.

The biggest issue is the agency use, creators who weren’t using it before are now joining an agency and it’s just annoying because of the spam messages and they raise the prices an insane amount. Then usually at this point the creator either stops making content altogether or makes something like once a month, so all the content is just repeat videos.

The other big issue is that I feel like there are barely any new creators. Like I’ve found a couple hot ones this year, but they usually quit pretty quickly or are never active. If they don’t quit then they either get banned from onlyfans or join an agency. In previous years I usually found a good handful of new creators - but this year has been so dry. I don’t know if it’s because people know it’s easy to leak content and are scared, or if it’s that onlyfans takes a hefty 20% of their earnings. Most new male creators I find on Twitter nowadays sell on Snapchat or Twitter only, which sucks because it allows them to scam.

We’ll see when the financial reports come out, but I feel that Onlyfans isn’t making as much money as they did last year and 2022. Hopefully they do drop in revenue this year and make a change like banning agencies
No, it isn’t. This is like saying “Is YouTube dying?” because of the influx of Mr Beast clones and low effort content farms. As a platform grows you get more of the good and more of the bad all at once. I can guarantee you that for every agency run page there are still other phenomenal creators pushing out boatloads of good content for a reasonable price. Just take the time to do research on here and wherever else you can find reviews so you know what you’re getting into before you buy. Unless OF itself does a drastic policy change that ruins their own platform it isn’t going anywhere.

I definitely think Onlyfans is dying and will not be relevant in two years. They HAD a good business model but their greed is going to make them irrelevant. My main reasons why (other than agencies):

-Leaks, a lot of guys who would be willing to do onlyfans won’t for fear that they’ll get leaked and have their nudes online. Onlyfans never did enough to protect creators. And it’s much more common knowledge than in like 2021 that your stuff will get leaked.

-No new creators, this kinda goes hand in hand with leaks but a lot of new guys aren’t making onlyfans this year. I remember in past years that young guys, particularly guys starting college, starting onlyfans once they turned 18. Right now it’s the same creators doing to same things, so I won’t be spending my money on repetitive things and I know most won’t either.

-Difficult to start an onlyfans, I’ve heard from creators that getting verified and starting an onlyfans creator account is actually a pain and hard to do. Other than showing their ID they have to link their social media platforms and do extra things to get verified which can take months. It’s not this difficult on other platforms like Fansly or Chaturbate that do it almost instantly. This hurts the amount of new creators.

-Banning and mistreating creators, they ban a lot of creators who then move to different platforms with their audience. Many creators moved to Fansly and Fansly is starting to grow rapidly. I feel like this year Fansly grew more than previous years. Also creators hate onlyfans too, it’s not a good thing when the producers and consumers on your platform hate you.

-Creators using money transfers, most or every creator I buy from nowadays pretty much only sell using cash app. I’ve noticed starting this year everybody is now doing it. The 25% cut from sales is how Onlyfans makes money so this is really really hurting them.

-Lack of growth, once a guy starts an account it’s really hard to actually grow without an agency. This was always a problem and onlyfans never fixed it, so now the vast majority of accounts are agency ran.

Bundle all these issues with the exponential growth of agencies and it’s starting to cause a lot of trouble. I spent a significant amount less on the website than I did in previous years and it seems like many people are too.

I get that logically it sounds like it will but I can say from personal use that there are hundreds of great creators worth subbing to, both old and new. They might become fewer and farther between but statistically they’ll always be there. Even if the bubble eventually pops, porn is one of the industries that will always be in demand no matter what. I don’t think a dip in quality is the same as dying

porn is about dopamine, and dopamine is about prediction error (discrepancy between expectation and reality)
when OF first gained attraction but is still niche, when you stumble upon a hot guy on tiktok and find out they have OF, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Nowadays, OF is so mainstream that when you see a hot guy doing thirst traps you know for sure they have linktree in their profile

And the delegating to agencies is just horrible business strategy. Overexposure is deadly for celebraties, same applys for content creators, not to mention the messages these agencies send out are just comically stupid

For real, and the messages are always following the same script:

"Hey babe. I'm so horny right now I can just bust a nut thinking of you jerking off to me as I stand in front of this mirror with my brand new Iphone sticking my tongue out. Cum check me out for the low low price of $75 as I get harder and HARDER for YOU."

and if you ever need a good laugh you can call them out when they DM you these cut and paste messages

I don't think it is dying, but it sure as hell should. They just released a new "Contract Between Fan and Creator" (hidden in the terms of service) that essentially absolves them of any responsibility for what creators do and shifts all risks to fans.

OnlyFans

Basically, they are explicitly saying, if you get defrauded, tough luck to you ... it's not our problem. You can try to sue the creator if you want (not OF), but you have to do it in the UK according to UK laws if you do.

I agree with you. There are great OF creators out there that sell great content at a reasonable price. They don't care about leaks because they know it gets them attention and drives more subscriptions. The flood of low quality scammers make them hard to find sometimes though.

OF facilitates the scammers because it makes them more money. They do that by making discovery difficult, allowing creators to hide what content is on their page and how people are responding to it (through likes). People have tried to start OF review pages to help weed out the scammers, and OF has gone after those reviewers hard with copyright claims. They don't want to get rid of the scammers. They are getting rich off them.

If OF were at all ethical, they would crack down on the scamming and make it easier to find good creators that put out great product at a reasonable price. But that would mean less money for them, which is all they care about. OF makes tons of money off the scammers. They aren't struggling from this at all.

This is why I hope it dies. The good/serious creators need to move to a different platform (Fansly is best, IMO) that cares more about the quality of their platform and protecting serious creators by combatting fraud. If that happened, then OF would die. Until that happens, OF will continue to make more than enough money to thrive.

Professional studios shouldn't be the only option, though. The thing I actually miss from the earliest, pre-pandemic days of OF was that it was a place where amateur exhibitionists found an easy outlet to show off and voyeurs could pay a reasonable price (or sometimes no price at all) to enjoy it. When it became a pop culture staple as a money-making venture, a lot of low-quality content flooded the platform. Amateur-driven sites (XTube, Pornhub, Xhamster, etc.) are either disappearing or becoming heavily regulated. Even OF has become much a much more restrictive platform for creators than it originally was because of rule changes.

It's not like the supply of exhibitionists is dwindling, but the 2020s internet isn't what it was even 5 years ago. It's fun to watch people who like being watched, but the post-pandemic porn landscape is really killing that.

The pornhub article really killed everything. Amateur porn degraded in quality once craigslist and tumblr died since those places were people met others to films and share with an audience. But the pornhub article destroyed any remaining resemblance of authenticity and in the moment content. From there OnlyFans creators got haughty and started polluting with low quality content. Then you had the rise of GenZ as main consumers, with their attitudes towards sex and porn. Combined with the way they react to receiving attention. It was a wrap, from there.
