I saw some images of the film, and no one can pretend that they did not want to put Jacob's butt in there. opportunities were present, and other actors showed. The only expalation is clearly that Jacob fought to show nothing and won. Honestly next time put nudity in the contract of the actor or change actor.

Yeah I’ve seen the film, and found it odd that we never saw anything of Jacob. Especially with that bath scene. A flash of ass wouldn’t kill anyone. I know this film isn’t porn, but with Barry bravely showing off his body in multiple scenes - it felt odd that we saw nothing of the man he listed over

Eh now hold up.

I certainly saw saw some online outlet headlines that either imply or outright suggest the movie is very QUEER or at the very least that there would be some queer/gay romantic elements. Maybe that's on them for rushing to judgment, idk but I won't strictly blame users here for having that expectation going in. It was a common trend in the press leading up to the release tbh. And this is just a from a 1 minute Google search

oh, I saw some of these too, believe me, but most of them are gossip and clickbait pages, but the plot, the interviews and the trailer made it kinda clear TO ME that Felix was not queer, and that the "homoeroticism" that was expected with him was with farleigh instead, and the bathtub scene.

A few of these are fairly (click)baity to be fair. You just have to click on the pinknews one to see that's it's a big load of nothing.

There is also a difference between "this is going to be a queer movie" and "Jacob's going to ride dick in this movie", imo. There's enough queer stuff in the movie to qualify it for the title.

OK, I just watched Saltburn and what the hell? I thought society had evolved past the gaybaiting fad. I’m too old for this bullshit. Fuck off Emerald Fennell, you untalented opportunist.
I just like the photography, the plot is very tacky, there are not elegance and sensuality, is just fetish

And there are absolutely "weird sexual scenes", especially in a Hollywood context where women tend to criticize that, I'm surprised that Esmeralde did it and also within a gay plot, basically woke female hypocresy

There are better plots in Bel Ami Studios videos LOL

See, I thought that was actually such a smart directorial choice. Part of the reason we get wrapped up in Ollie’s book obsession with Felix is BECAUSE we aren’t ever given anything but innuendo. The film is definitely a cocktease, but it’s because we create our own cocktease in situations that are nothing of the sort. Humans are filthy and selfish.

Just finished Saltburn, as well. If you’re offended by it or find it “baity,” frankly it’s because you’re the kind of person the film is about. To me, it’s less about baiting and more about the tendency we all have to commit so much to the fantasies we create in our heads that we forget what’s real and what isn’t. I found it fascinating. But I also loved Promising Young Woman, which I’ve also seen isn’t popular among this crowd. Haha.

Wow what an incredibly pompous remark

I never liked people accusing an actor of not doing nudity solely because he wasn't nude in a project people were expecting to see him naked in. It's not always the actor's choice, most of the time it's their PR team or agents.

what I know is the actor is always the boss in the situation and the agent's job is to represent a client's interests. The actors have autonomy and the agent can't force them to do/not do a project they don't want. It's always their choice, they are the ones who tell the agents to say yes or no to something

Bit of a tangent, but I find it interesting that some of the members on this site that expect actors who are totally known by the public, and anything they say or do that's recorded and attached to them in searches forever, don't even bother to upload a dick/clit/tit/nude of themselves to get verification; on a site that you can have a pseudonym and give no other details.

The concensus here in the UK seems to be that Fennell has bolted together elements of Brideshead Revisited and The Talented Mr Ripley. Both sources have aspects of homoeroticism about them. If you've seen or read Ripley, you'll remember that Tom Ripley has an unrequited desire for Dickie Greenleaf. There is an erotic bath scene in Ripley too. The same dynamic and class relationship would seem to apply to Ollie and Felix in Saltburn. Fennell is getting a lot of flak here for a perceived lack of originality in this respect.

There's nothing baity about it lol it was always a story about obsession, never was it implied that Felix reciprocated Oliver's feelings
Obsession can also lead to sexual connection. You never even, not even once, considered that Felix may reciprocate Oliver's feelings for him through out the film? There were moments in the film that those two were nearly going to kiss so I could see why people thought it was baity.

But see…that’s where I think maybe I differ in my interpretation. We’re seeing this relationship through Ollie’s lens. He’s our protagonist. Are we not seeing his stylized fantasy version of things the entire time, or did I just dream the artsy fartsy scene where he acid trip drinks homeboy’s cum? It’s baity bc he wants this fantasy so bad he’s crafted it in his head. Manifested it, perhaps, even?
