Well, bascially its not that they changed Soldier Boy, but more the story line. The Soldier Boy that is fucked by Homelander all the time is a legacy hero thats not worth shit. Jensen is playing the original Soldier Boy instead of the legacy and that's why he's all grittty and badass instead of him mysteriously disappearing. They're purposefully mirroring the whole Captain Amercia frozen in time plot from Marvel.

I didn't like it tbh. feels like another version of playing the same character: really tough guy. Especially don't like it since the spoilers for last to episodes make the character make no sense to me.

Jack Quaid showed up though. He's clearly comfortable going nude and his ass is fantastic.
That overhead shot of him at the end, all naked and sprawled out, full body...instant explosion.
