The show made a lot of changes to various characters. It's not a 1:1 translation.

In this case I think all soldier boys (I believe they're actually 3) are combined into the one version of the character who has a changed personality/backstory entirely.

kripke said he loved the sex between homelander and soldier boy but they 'couldnt figure a way out to include it' so they deliberately cut the scene.
