Candid (Not blatantly pornographic) photos of men wearing jockstraps pre-1980s are always awesome to see. Post photos you might find across the web. These include the Navy Posture Photos of the 1940's, photos of guys in locker rooms, at the beach or pool wearing one, or during some hazing ritual. There are many photos on Ebay or auction sites that disappear before there is a record of such photos, so here is a place to post them before they're gone. This is the non-official jockstrap appreciation post.

Back then women really didn't go to boxing matches and stuff like that either so there was just less of a hang up about what the guys were wearing. I think when matches became more official and the sport got bigger they quickly started enforcing shorts, but I'm not super well versed in boxing history. LOL

I believe you are correct. Going to a boxing match was not a thing that proper ladies did.

I think it just his style :joy: Less social norms about the male body, it wasn't seen as unusual back then. Swimwear was a lot more revealing back then too.
Thank you so much for your incredible documentation which makes so many fans happy. Wonderful work! THANK YOU!

Men weren’t considered sex objects back then. Thus, who cared if a man was naked in a photo? During WW2, Life Magazine regularly printed photos from the battle front showing men showering, sunbathing nude, getting physicals, whatever. These photos would be very strange for a non-porn publication today.

These photos are great.
Life Magazine seemed to have a thing for pictures of guys in jockstraps. I remember the first time that I saw a man in a jockstrap was looking through a Life Magazine story about students entering West Point. One photo was of a new student walking through what appeared to be a gymnasium, wearing only a jockstrap and holding a clip board. After that I looked forward to having my own jockstraps to wear !
