The creator said she would develop the side characters and teachers while continuing the main story.
It's not low budget but it is not one of the most expensive shows to produce.

He is not legal in some of those picture. Fucking cute as heck in his interviews with facial hair.

A second season could prove much more expensive to produce as the story takes the class to Paris on a school trip, which I'd love to see! And I'm glad the creator is fleshing out the side characters a lot more as well!

Yeah this is a slam dunk show for Netflix to renew. They've already got the creator involved and the source material is written. Plus it's extremely popular and well received.

I agree it's very likely renewed. But the only way the show will go beyond 2-3 seasons is if Netflix bows to the current public and media pressure over their shitty business model and creative choices which often lock shows at a certain season limit and prioritize compulsive binge watching in the first weekend over everything else, which are some of the factors that have seriously impacted their bottom line recently.

It is entirely possible Netflix starts to become more lenient and less ADHD about some of their shows, or it's possible they will double down on their existing metrics. We'll see. One way or another I doubt it impacts Heartstopper in the short term.

He actually applied for the role of Charlie first, so if Alice Oseman comes out and say "hey all our cast members have the exactly same sexual orientation as the characters they portrayed" I don't think he is gay or bi, probably that's why he never answered any questions regarding his sexual orientation, often jumped around it...it's quite a smart move from the PR team to be honest to avoid the backlash of straight actors playing LGBT characters

I mean Joe Locke and Yasmine Finney were both straight forward from the beginning with their sexual orientation and where they belong in the LGBT community...so if KIT were gay or bi he would be openly talking about it too. Like I said I'm 100% sure he is not gay also I saw the casting brochure, nothing about sexual orientation was on the requirements

I've watched this series like 10+ times and I cried 95% of the time in every episode... The only 5% I didn't cry because I watched it at the gym

The moving and emotional scenes, especially the last 5 mins of episode 102, combined with the soundtrack. This gets me every time (when I watch it at home). Can't believe I let myself cry watching a teen drama...

I really do hope it gets picked up for season 2. Kit is definitely an amazing talented actor.

Maybe he's not really discussing his sexuality because he doesn't choose to? People these days get way too hung up on the sexuality of actors and the characters they play. He might just want the focus to be on the work.

I still think it's more cos it's a spoiler for the series.. if he's talking about being bi in all the interviews, there's no "is he, isn't he" tension for those who haven't watched the show yet

Several of the actors are openly out. But Sebastian Croft, who very likely is LGBT, is not quite out at least to the general public. We have no idea if Kit is str8, bi or gay and I don't think there's enough to make a judgment. I think his interview answers are very leading and can be read a number of ways, and if it's true Heartstopper was cast according to orientation that's fairly telling there as well. But ultimately it's nobody's business but his until he says otherwise.
