It's likely pretty low budget, and appeals to a younger and global audience.

The Meghan Markle thing costs an enormous amount, and is would be a very risky bet for Netflix, as its popularity definitely wouldn't be guaranteed. Unlike season 2 of Heartstopper.

With Netflix everything can get cancelled. i remember Pretty Little Things was also Top 10 in almost every country. But it didn't get renewed

Well I'm a cis girl who just really want to know who am I competing with haha...I won't harass her.

He comes up really straight to me to be honest, also it is weird to ask a teen about his sexual orientation, I don't think it is appropriate. But I don't think he is gay or bi. Especially after watching all the interviews how he just talked around those questions...and he doesn't look comfortable talking about it...

although there are so many straight passing gay actors!!!
Luke Evans for example or Mathew Bomer, I thought they were both straight before they came out years ago

Furthermore the author of the graphic novels has said it'd likely be four seasons to cover the material it's based on.

That being said, season 1 of the series basically covers events in Volumes 1 AND 2 of the graphic novel series, tho 3 and 4 cover a LOT more ground, so it'll be interesting to see how it's adapted if it continues.

For those saying "he keeps dancing around it in interviews" etc etc have you ever thought that that's because the sexuality of his character is kind of a spoiler in the series? To discuss it as openly as Joe would be out of place cos it would give away a large part of his characters arc in the series.

He actually applied for the role of Charlie first, so if Alice Oseman comes out and say "hey all our cast members have the exactly same sexual orientation as the characters they portrayed" I don't think he is gay or bi, probably that's why he never answered any questions regarding his sexual orientation, often jumped around it...it's quite a smart move from the PR team to be honest to avoid the backlash of straight actors playing LGBT characters

I mean Joe Locke and Yasmine Finney were both straight forward from the beginning with their sexual orientation and where they belong in the LGBT community...so if KIT were gay or bi he would be openly talking about it too. Like I said I'm 100% sure he is not gay also I saw the casting brochure, nothing about sexual orientation was on the requirements

Why would he be openly talking about when promoting a series where the sexuality of his character isn't just a major story arc, but a potential spoiler for those who haven't seen the show yet?

He is really excellent. I thought both he and Locke could've done silent film, they were that expressive in the early episodes.

the two actors you mentioned are already out and for the umpteenth time he’s promoting a movie, why would they be talking about his private life?

i’m also yet to see one interview where he’s evaded the question. hopefully you get to your destination one day.

The creator said she would develop the side characters and teachers while continuing the main story.
It's not low budget but it is not one of the most expensive shows to produce.
