It’s an odd one, the comment makes me think he isn’t straight but then in interviews etc he comes across as straight

How exactly does he come across as straight? I haven't seen him talk about being attracted to girls in any interviews...
Exactly he is 18..Netflix show was a breakout hit and draws a lot of attention. I assume he is queer of some kind but who knows. But I doubt he comes out about anything cause he has had a career and sadly managers will tell him prob shhhh for his future

Obviously the second season is coming...
Everyone is going to be much bigger than in the first season, Kit was only 17 when they filmed it and it will most likely be announced at the end of this year or in the middle of this year... what do you expect from the series?

Nick is 17 on the HQs..It will not be a huge age difference even if they just announce 2 season for 2023. That's the good thing about casting real teenages to play fictional teenagers.

He actually auditioned first for the role of "Charlie" in that rain-soaked Nick bedroom scene where Charlie apologizes for making Nick kiss him in his mind at Harry"s b-day party
Producers and Alice Oseman quickly realized Kit had the acting chops and personality for Nick, despite by his own admission lacking Nick's height and bulky muscle depicted in the graphic novel character!
Since filming wrapped last June, Kit has added 10-15Ibs of muscle and will look more like the comic book Nick character for season 2 / volumes 3&4 which include a major shirtless summer beach scene and fan fave "I love you" scene where Nick hops out of the shower and chases down Charlie on the street to return his declaration of love for the first time!
Kit's initial audition as Charlie actually wasn't a huge casting stretch given his strong performance as nerdy, shy, gay young Elton John in "Rocketman" back in 2019.
In my opinion, the new unwritten goal in casting these new LBGTQ series where there is a gay romantic couple headlining the show is to cast at least one gay actor, often little known or new to the biz, with an experienced straight star > Eg/ Omar Rudberg with experienced likely straight actor Edvin Ryding and Joe Locke with equally experienced likely straight Kit Connor.
Interview questions about their sexuality and personal dating lives are obviously made off-limits if you've been paying attention to protect their off-camera privacy, keep the focus strictly on the show and their characters, and avoid the whole gay role-straight actor casting landmine issue which "Love Triangles, Victor" got nailed with!

I doubt Kit is straight, based on recent behavior, but we've been all over this already.

There’s a video on the Netflix YouTube account where the director and creator talk about how the main 6 roles were all cast with the actors sexuality matching the character.
Kit’s been asked about his sexuality in interviews, and said he didn’t wanna talk about it. The dudes still in high school at an all boys school - keeping it purposely ambiguous in that environment makes complete sense to me.
Wow > can you provide a link for that specific interview where they make that exact statement about the 6 main roles? Kit Connor hasn't made any confirming statement, in keeping with his understandable right to privacy, but the director and creator have nonetheless done this for him by making such a specific public statement about the main cast members which obviously include Kit?? Would be very interested in listening to that interview!

Agreed > but I just don't believe any director or producer would publicly 'out' cast members like Kit who has every right to privacy about his sexuality > they would both be breaking a long-held sacred taboo in Hollywood by doing so!!
