Definitely leaner > slimming down for scene continuity reasons since S2 stars filming in Sept and picks up shortly after the final S1 beach date scene!
When S1 wrapped in early June/2021, Kit hit the gym hard and put on a noticeable amount of size, muscle, weight, especially in the face > so he now needs to drop some of this added size now

I actually prefer his chubbier version way more, it feels more real and adorable.

Agreed > also more in keeping with the bigger, bulkier version of "Nick" depicted in the web comics!
But, for scene continuity purposes and also for other auditioning roles, it makes perfect sense for heavier Kit to drop the weight for upcoming season 2 Heartstopper filming!

That’s Tom Prior, who stars in the film Firebird, released in April this year (US at least). Great gay-themed film set in the Cold War Era that I highly recommend. Based on a true story, and both the leads were stunning, not to mention a few hot scenes that’ll send your jets soaring, so to speak
