Michael Cimino (actor)

Lmfao way to shit on gay actors as being horrible. You really think if lets say 20 gay actors audition for something then they are ALL horrible, not likely and even if they are, then keep looking like they do for every other category ever. They don't just settle for other groups so why should they for us.

I think that that if the character is a member of the community, they should be played by a member of the community, plain and simple, sorry not sorry.

Straight guys playing gay roles are boring to me sorry and then they just get a bunch of guys and gals that speculate on their sexuality for the rest of their lives, which is literally what's happening here.

Also cool it with the tone Laganja, nobody came for you, stop feeling attacked.
i love that you 1) dont reply to what is asked 2) Flip the point to what you want it to be 3) Assume everyone is hurt or bothered by your deflections. But it really dosent matter what anyone says your mind is set. you want gay people to be put on a spotlight for being gay. I dont know how it is now but back in my day (literally 10 years ago) we wanted to be equal and seen as everyone else is, and im happy with that. but like i said before be the Martyr,

You say it has nothing to do with the trans thing but the argument is still the same.

It's not equal. I don't know how else to make that click with you. Who you're attracted to has nothing to do with a role because you fake attraction anyway. What if a character starts out straight and the producers decide that character should come out? You can fake being gay or fake being straight. Many, if not, all of us have faked being straight at one point in our lives.

But you can't fake being trans. I'm sorry. It's just not the same thing. I know you say it has nothing to do with that but this is why I'm telling you why you're belief about gay actors playing gay roles is well-intentioned but ultimately misguided.

Why should 1rkhachatryan respond to your questions when they're just ridiculous strawmen that you're creating?

For decades the line used to explain why gay actors can't play straight roles is the public won't accept them in the role. If it's a gay themed project that defence can no longer be used. And given that gay actors are not considered for roles on an equal basis with straight actors, yes it is fair that priority be given, when casting gay roles, to openly gay/bi actors. If an openly gay/bi actor can't be found for the role, then fine, cast a straight actor. But at least make an effort. In this case it's not like the role of Victor is particularly challenging.

In a perfect world where every role was cast on merit and not based on personal lives which have nothing whatsoever to do with acting, then sure, cast whoever. But this world is far from perfect. Representation matters. For any other minority group this wouldn't even be controversial.

But you can't fake being trans
Of course you can. You shouldn't, but you can. You can fake anything. That's the whole point of acting. You just want to claim you can't because it suits your argument.

you reply to me saying that gay people should get the roles, when the question was "if the gay guy is a bad actor he should have the role no matter if the straight actor is great in the role, then you say that anyone can play Trans, just pointing out what we all can see

Because your point didn't make sense, why would I want a terrible actor to get the role just because he is gay when there are plenty of great gay actors. And why is the straight guy the great one when again, there are horrible straight actors as well. If they've seen tons of gay people and none of them were right for the role then fine, cast the straight one but I have a big feeling that isn't what happened here and in the vast majority of auditions.

And I only assumed you were bothered since you all but called me a Karen lol.

Sorry not sorry but the whole reason for the stupid show in the first place is the gayness, so yes, the gayness should be factored in there somewhere.

I want a GOOD gay actor to play gay roles because it's much more authentic, I don't care how good Michael is(and judging from the first episode, not very), he'll never truly relate to the character no matter how many gay cousins he has.

It's a lot easier to cast someone who knows the experience then having to teach someone the experience.

Half the posts in here are about Michael needing to have sex scenes, and the rest are about his sexuality. im here cause im bored and you two waffle to prove a point, get a room and hate the world together

As I said, I don't care what your questions are because they aren't asked in good faith. You're just creating strawmen because you can't argue against what's actually being said. Try making a point without resorting to misrepresentation.

you dont red what i write but know that its out of good faith. your driving down both lanes on a one way street here. Im not creating Strawmen, he came with the house and he is a horrible actor, but he is gay. So he will be playing victor's love interest next season. you can spin this anyway you want to make yourself feel better. Several times ive been willing to change my views to end this but typical Karen's, y'all just never happy. but since your not reading any way, your AS looks fat next to that W of yours. Tip your waiters

Lmfao, so you get on me about not answering your questions and then ignore my entire post, k then lol.

It's literally not legal in Hollywood to ask auditioning actors if they're gay. Imagine "Love, Simon" rejecting Keiynan Lonsdale or "Andi Mack" rejecting Joshua Rush because they were closeted at the time. Ridiculous from a hiring standpoint.

We should focus more on the casting of trans and BIPOC actors, for the reasons stated by others.

clearly the best solution for this is to demand every actor that auditions to play a gay character that they must use a dildo a blowjob.
role goes to whomever is capable of deepthroating it the longest

What?
I think thats what pornstar do for audition. Not actors

this!! y'all debating whether gay characters should be played by gay actors or not, what about closeted actors??

people argue too goddamn much on this website. there's a difference between having a respectful conversation about a topic that needs to have a dialogue and having an argument where you're not even talking about the topic and just taking jabs at each other and most people just have senseless arguments. if you guys wanna have an actual conversation just talk about the topic, no calling the other person stupid or just talking shit about the other person, have an actual fucking conversation like normal people do. that's it. it's not hard
