It's worse than he normally sings I guess? He's playing a drunk character who is not a singer doing karaoke. Of course it's not meant to sound great? I'm confused why some people think it's anything other than him singing kinda bad on purpose...

I watched the movie before reading the book and was surprised when read he was butchering the song.
and maybe I am biased and find anything he does lovely

Yeah I didn't think it was terrible when I watched it or anything. Then I saw people online talking about how bad it was and just found it weird that people thought Nick was a bad singer based on a scene where he played a drunk person doing karaoke.

When I watched RWRB for the first time, and this was without having any idea about Babygirl at all, I thought he sounded decent and he actually hit some notes, lol, but yes, it wasn't supposed to be perfect or anything. He's playing a drunk guy who is not a singer like him

Babygirly is so interesting cause you could read an interview of his randomly, and you would think he's a snob, always waxing poetry and trying to be deep. Nonetheless, he actually spurts his deep thoughts on the daily, in all interviews and videos, but then he goes into his goofy mode and comes up with cringy millennial jokes and captions.
