I hear what you're saying but you just gotta jump into it. If you do it one time you're gonna notice that it's not that uncomfortable. Most men are totally in their own zone and probably worries about the same things that you do. It's all in your head. You're probably completely normal. What is your soft size if I may ask?
I do get that it can be a bit uncomfortable being around super fit guys if you're not there yourself but then I would recommend to start off with going to a swimming hall, bath or spa instead of the gym. There you'll find tons of guys who are not bulking every day and looks like body builders, and you will also see a wide range of soft dicks, from very small to quite big. From my experiences average size is really what you see the most, so think you'll be positively surprised.

Not sure, just always been comfortable. I like knowing my cock has been seen, but only in places where it’s fine to be nude. Lots of older guys have commented on it to, that I’m one of the only younger guys nude
Interesting video. I do think he has a point about smaller families being one factor but I also think people growing up with "stranger danger" is a big factor and that everyone having a camera on their phone is why showers are no longer required.

And there lies the problem. Lads having too much privacy when young and still at home. Heaven help the ones that go and join the military, they are in for a shock. As a lad, I shared a room with my four bros and had to queue up with them to shower and shit in the mornings. Moving on to shower with other lads at school was no issue and so equally playing sports and going to gyms wasn't either. Glad I never had a private bathroom!
Yes though the decline in communal showers started before the cell phone adoption as he mentions.
If you check YouTube there are a bunch of videos attempting to address already panicked recruits on the subject. Apparently the military in some cases do have private stalls.

My gym had open showers, but since a week suddenly the have curtains of IKEA!!! I noticed that some men don't use them. I don't like and use them: not hygienic and nothing to watch. I jerked a lot in these showers ;-)

Oh no! Sorry to hear. I'm leaving my current gym soon for a newer one, and I fear I'll go from our huge, communal showers to silly IKEA-curtained stalls.
