Percy Hynes White

Well…he’s absolutely doing the right thing in keeping his mouth shut. Worst thing he can do is apologize because the mob will take that as an admission of guilt even if he doesn’t confess to the most heinous thing(s) he’s being accused of.

Some of you are right btw. Seems like major outlets aren’t reporting on it because they are waiting for some actual proof (don’t want to open themselves up to defamation lawsuits). The photos he sent are harmless troll pics. They simply aren’t enough, and reading through these stories…a lot of them are really vague. I’m actually starting to wonder if any of them are really true myself.

There's also no evidence that the pics were sent in the manner they were claimed to have been - the person just sent the photos and not a screenshot of the photos in a conversation (they also came from another person - so it's already been shared around as 2nd or 3rd hand).

Given what happened to Joshua Bassett, a lot of caution would be taken by the media before reporting on social media posts as facts. Same would go for production companies - they are in a lose/lose situation when it comes to this stuff.

What happened to Joshua Bassett? I know there was a feud or something with Olivia Rodrigo but it seemed too complex and messy for me to try and understand it lol

Like I said before.. a lot of accusations of rape and abuse from profiles with no photos and names like @lili01010101 in Twitter... in the end it was a "trolling" from 4chan profiles, probably guys "emulating" girls reports... a move made to discredit claims of abuse (there's a name to this type of bait I can't remember, but they pretend to be some minority and create a "demand" to this group to confuse them or to make them sound bad.. I remember them pretending to be LGBT people defending pedophiles and pedophilia for an example)

Considering Joshua himself is a victim of abuse.. this is awful

This exactly what happens ALL the time. One person comes out with claims, then suddenly a bunch of random, no names pop up, then the supposed victim receives a bunch of anonymous stories to further discredit the person they target. It’s the same damn cycle and these stories are kinda batshit and vague. Hard to believe them right now because there’s no actual evidence. There’s only evidence of Percy being a shitty teenager and boyfriend in the past, and a bit of a troll. Who wasn’t a shitty teenager? Honestly.
Based on what we know, it just seems like the victim is upset he’s famous and remembered how mean he was to her.

Gonna state this again here for the record: Rape and assault are underreported crimes and they are very difficult to prove, especially if the alleged crimes have occurred in the distant past. It often comes down to a matter of he said vs she said. That doesn't mean that no crimes happened. Ultimately when there are accusations levelled about someone we will have to make up our own minds about what we believe and whether or not we want to support that person's career going forward. Also, just because someone may not have done something criminal, does not mean that they aren't bad people who aren't worth of our support. Not saying that this all necessarily applies to Percy, but I've seen a lot of arguments here about the legal process, and like... we're not jurors or prosecutors or lawyers, we're not bound by that. If you think there's fire behind the smoke, you do not have to support the person. In many cases like this there will never be definitive proof, or a definitive answer about what did or did not happen.

Actually a lot of sexual assault and rape claims are circumstantial. Many reports of abuse and rape get reported late cause authorities don’t wanna look into it and the accuser gets offered money to shut up so just because there are false allegations doesn’t mean that happens to everyone. What happened with Joshua and other actors in which it was proven false is not happening here (for now).

Just wanna add that everyone responds to trauma differently, which can also mean a lot of elapsed time between the incident and the report if it's even reported. This makes sexual assault even harder to prove, obviously. But even if a victim does exactly what they "should" do...reports immediately, gets a kit done, etc., the evidence can be too faint to indicate an assault occurred.

Looking at what's been said in stories at face value, we really need to educate girls but even moreso boys about what sexual assault is.

I think all of us probably know guys from our youth who did these kinds of "parties" and may not even think what they did was assault. Not even maliciously (though I don't want to give too much credit, plenty of men are legitimate monsters), but because they think such behavior is normal. Especially in groups where things can spiral out of control.

All that is to say, this sucks no matter which way it goes.

Everyone but Jenny Ortega is replaceable on that show lol.

They don't even need to go back to the school, a season 2 could be set at summer break and have her at the Addams family home and would be just as big if not bigger.

Percy is not a big part of the show all things considered, he's just a supporting character. It's all Jenny Ortega.

Seriously how good was her dead pan delivery on that show... Such a delightful surprise.

Referring to how it goes down on social media. Using the mob as a weapon instead of the law.

there’s a lot of information in this thread and elsewhere about how the law is often ineffectual in these cases. Read it or don’t. And “the mob” is a straw man here that doesn’t actually accomplish anything.

I was about to defend the rest of the cast but then I thought about it and you're right. I still can't believe how underwhelming Zeta-Jones and Guzman were. Both are very talented and capable of a lot more.

My sister said that Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz should have been Gomez and Morticia and wow, would that have been fun.

But yeah, cute though he is, the show doesn't need Percy.

‍That’s exactly why people resort to using social media to destroy someone’s career instead of going to authorities. It’s because they know they lack the required evidence for anything to happen, so they use the court of public opinion instead.

Still, we’ve had plenty of scenarios where claimed victims have straight up lied simply because they had a petty bone to pick with their target.

I’ve seen this happen to celebrities and especially streamers.

exactly. So far there is zero actual evidence. If he did it, I hope he goes to jail. But as of right now, there is not enough for anything to happen
