I am not certain. I personally take only a small percentage of the pictures I post on Photo of the day. I believe the fiery mountain scene is Appalachia, West Virginia, US. Close in soaring mountain topography reminds one of Germany.

I may be wrong but I think this is in Germany Valley in WV. A good portion of the state would remind you of Germany or Switzerland. Unfortunately, most of our highways don't offer the best views of the state. You have to get on the back roads or go ridge running to see the real beauty.
