Now that we've finally gotten some clear nights, I've been trying out more astrophotography and two better ones from last week.

Been trying to capture Jupiter and Saturn, but it is proving challenging with the camera I have and will have to keep practicing since so far this is the best I could do.

Wow

I know that there is... I don't know what they call it... atmospheric haze or wobble?? But those shots are incredible considering astrophotography is really difficult for a number of reasons I believe (I'm no expert)

I mean, that's clearly saturn as well. Wouldn't have to guess.

Impressive

Thanks. Yes atmospheric distortion and light pollution are two of the biggest general challenges in taking these pictures but on a more relevant level is object glare (which can be helped with filters), longer exposure times and equipment stability (objects move out of field as the Earth rotates); only the last that I can correct for with both the camera and telescope I have. I have a few others in this thread of the moon and one of Venus that came out better, but it's skill in progress and I'm still a novice.

Cholla wood.

I love Cholla cacti. Beautiful flowers, stoic stocks, and they leave the most beautiful wood.

I always found dead wood to be such an interesting substance. We make goods from plant skeletons. It's a corpse of sorts, but we find it so beautiful and useful. Always blew my mind a bit.

And yes, we collect this wood.

Really cool pieces of wood. Some of those tiny led lights running through it and you have yourself a really interesting table lamp.

It's the best wood for art stuffs by far IMO
None of these are my personal pics, but I still thought these were worth sharing. 2cb1546d4343585da844fdccd5bb82c6.jpg

My fella has a cane way better than that one, but I can't find it to share a pic.
