Real life college experiences in a super conservative college

Nah, don’t get that vibe. Thomas made me a little uncomfortable but seems hungstoner made it through alright. I’m guessing they’re just a very open family.
Exactly. My brother Thomas was a stereotypical frat jock. He spent years in lockeroom settings acting a fool.i assume taunting and acting stupid. As I met all his buddies. That’s how they were. I never thought he was creepy. I hope that clears things up. Thomas was also an exception for our family. He was much more like my dad. More than really any of us. Paul and I were on the shy quiet side. I grew to be more open. Paul didn’t. He’s still the same quiet guy he was back then. I guess you could say I’m part Paul part Thomas.

Awesome chapter as always. I won’t lie, Thomas really strikes me as being very suspicious. I’m a little concerned. Hope everything goes well in these next chapters
Well, after all, he did go to a "super conservative college." Isn't that plenty about with to base suspicion?

I’d also fallen in love with my roommate. Being an 18 year old freshman I had never truly been in love. My emotional connections to guys were either friendship or lust/sex, usually just lust at a great distance. I hadn’t conceived of falling so deeply in love with someone I wasn’t didn’t lust over. I was emotionally blindsided. I was so heartsick at being separated from our life together in our room that I literally cried the entire two hour drive home. It took me a long time to realize and honestly admit the truth to myself, and sadly, telling him was never, ever an option.
He wasn't my roommate, but he lived down the hall from me around that same late teenager time of development. We'd goofed around, but it was only later when I finally had an awakening and realized that I *wanted* him. I'd thought of it as just being friendly and playful, because I didn't have a feeling for that since I'd not felt that way about anyone before - the "dating" I'd done with girls didn't do anything for me and I just figured that's how it was for everyone. It was only after the separation that I started to realize there was something more there. Had I had better insight about myself at that time I might have been confident enough to see how far we might go, but even though I knew of other gay males in that time I'd never considered that for myself.

That was several decades ago. I've been fully out and fully gay for quite a while, and he was one of the first of my "old friends" to whom I came out. I was really hoping that response was going to be "yeah, me too" but that was not to be. We've stayed in touch off and on over the years, but I've never explicitly told him that I crushed on him hard when we were together in school.

That is how I was raised. My family was then and still is today deeply religious. I sort of go into it during my chapters. But I did have a faith struggle oddly enough at a school environment that would have discouraged any of this. I wasn’t really allowed to think for myself. My life was dictated for me. My freshman year of college is me peeling back some of those layers. In later chapters you’ll see more of this struggle. My first semester was about exploring life and figuring out things about myself I never knew. That being that I was bisexual. I never knew how to handle this. Also keep in mind I was in high school in the late 90’s. I couldn’t name one gay person I actually knew. I saw all my thoughts about guys as “devil trying to tempt me”. I was still attracted to women and so I figured it just must be a way to tempt me. So that’s the point of the conservative theme. It’s necessary for the plot.

Fast forward to today and my family is still very conservative. I came out to them 5 years ago. I have a boyfriend of almost three years. They refuse to accept any of that. They’ve said very hurtful down right nasty things to me. Their current reaction is what kept me in the closet for all those years.
If they are truly conservative, as you say, then they will respect a decision on your part to stand up for yourself, make your own choices and decisions as an individual, and pursue your own free life apart and absent them. If they do not admire you for turning your back on them, then they are not "conservative" because a conservative respects self-determination. Try it and see how good it feels to make your own way in life without them.

Respectfully, no matter how much Hungstoner talks about this aspect of his life, we will never fully understand the situation he finds himself in, the realities and the emotions involved. Imo, it's not really our place to give him advice or to convince him to try anything, let him make the choices he feels are best for himself.

Chapter 36

I looked out the window of Jake's truck as we pulled away. It was a weird feeling some how after just a few short months our small little dorm room had become my home. Now I was on my way back to be with my family. Other than a weekly phone call with my mom I had little contact with my family. Pulling up to Sherri's house. Jake and I walk to the door.

"She's probably packed like she's moving away" Jake quipped as he rings the door bell.

"Morning little brother, morning Daniel" Sherri says with a smile as she also pointing to all the luggage we're going to carry.

"Damn Sherri, you moving away, we're only gone for a few weeks!" Jake says as he picks up one of the bags. "And they're heavy too, dammit Sherri, you pack rocks in here?"

I grabbed two and Jake did the same. Sherri grabbed the last one, closing the door behind her and locking up. Jake at opening the tail gate and pretending to just throw them in. I help him.

"So what are you going to do over the holidays Daniel, I'm sure you'll be happy to be away from this guy" Sherri says as she points to Jake.

"I'm flying back to Columbus today and on the 23rd my family is going to Pittsburgh to be with my grand..." I said before Jake chimes in.

"Daniel's invited Ashley to fly up there to visit his family... This guy's in love or crazy!" Jake says as we're now all in his truck. Me crammed in the back and Sherri up front.

"Awww Daniel that's so sweet.... you're such a sweetheart, Ashley is lucky to have a guy like you." Then turning to look at me in the backseat Sherri asks "You're gonna miss her, that's so sweet Daniel!"

"Daniel's gonna miss something alright..." Jake says while being interrupted by Sherri.

"Jake, Daniel is a gentleman, he's not a horn dog like you!" She exclaims.

"Oh, you'd be surprised!" Jake responds.

Sherri turning back around again "Daniel, you dog you... I wouldn't have guessed. It's always the shy quiet ones."

Feeling somewhat proud but also self conscious and having the feeling to defend myself "well...umm I'm still a gentleman, we haven't gone all the way or anything... She told me she's a God fearing Texan..."

Laughing Sherri says "well good for you Daniel, but it's okay to have some fun and live a little, I know I sure do..."

Jake had often told me stories about Sherri, and her wild days. Her parents sent her to the school Jake and I attended as a way to get her on the right path. Which was a common reason many of us ended up there. Myself included. For me my parents worried I'd end up in wrong crowd, maybe smoke pot or say curse words or whatever else they feared. Spending time with Jake and Sherri showed me that I didn't have to be so uptight. Jake and Sherri were part of the "too cool for school Christians". I wasn't yet sure which camp I belonged in. I certainly had been experimenting more than I ever thought I would. As I often felt conflicted. In my psychology class that semester I learned this was a cognitive dissonance.

After awhile Sherri asks. "So Daniel, now I'm curious, how much of a gentleman are you?"

Feeling a bit awkward but I know women like Sherri felt comfortable talking about such things. Not sure what all to say. I was stumbling to think of what to say. It seemed like hours but I'm sure it seconds.

Jake chimes in for me. "Daniel's at the hand job phase of his relationship".

"Dammit Jake" I said

Sherri responding "Awwww Daniel that's adorable! I told you it's the quiet ones, every time! Well good for you Daniel, though of all people I wouldn't have guessed you."

"Well, it was Ashley's idea and well...ummm.. I didn't say no..." I said as if I was defending my actions.

"Daniel, it's all good bro, like I keep saying I'm proud of you."

"Thanks, I guess." I said looking down and seeing my now hard dick.

All the talk about Ashley and hand jobs and sitting in the back seat for an hour I realized we were super close to the airport. As we pulled in I instantly thought. "Oh shit you're back here tenting and now you have to get out of the backseat past Sherry and grab your luggage. Praying the same "make my boner go away prayer" over and over hoping it would work. Sadly it did not. We pull up the drop off area. I do my best to adjust and rearrange as a way to not be too obvious. Although nothing gets past Jake. As I slide out from the back and he was grabbing my bag from the back. He does the finger raise. The signal we used to say we had a boner. I nodded.

Laughing Jake says "What a send off with Daniels infamous boner tents. Now come and give me a hug good bye!"

Being somewhat surprised but I just went for it (thankfully it was more or less a chub). Jake gave solid hugs, like really good ones. In that moment I really thought wow, Jake is such a cool guy, what a semester, what a great friend, dammit I'm one lucky guy. He pats me on the back.

"I'm gonna miss you bro, I mean that! You better call me when you get home!"

We pulled away and my boner hadn't entirely went away and I pretty sure I felt Jake's. It felt like a very special moment. One of those moments I still look back on and wonder what Jake was thinking, and was he feeling the same connection I was. All of this was interrupted by Sherri...

"You two done making out yet?"

Putting my bag strategically in front of me as I walk around Jake's truck to the side walk.

"Bye Jake, bye Sherri!" I said waving

"Later bro, happy holiday's Daniel" Jake said

In my head and heard I was feeling so many churning feelings. Determined to shake off those feelings I turned and walked into the airport. It was a short flight home. I arrived and wait out front of the Columbus Airport and see my dad's Jeep pull up with my mom in the front seat. Dad opened the hatch and I throw my stuff in. Off we went back to the suburbs of Columbus. My mom in typical fashion was a question a minute asking all about my trip, my classes my semester and having a roommate...etc.

"So, how was your first semester sweetheart...?"

I didn't even know where to begin.
Great story!

The OP did not characterize the thread as a "story" but as "real life" experiences. As such, the OP represents himself as someone sharing an issue that invites active engagement, rather than offering passive erotic entertainment. My advice to the OP is sound and should be heeded. The prospect that you do not like my advice is no reason to leave the thread. If the thread were moved to, what I believe, is a more fitting forum, such as Erotic Stories, then I would have no comment because it would be more genuinely portrayed as just a story.

A true conservative would behave that way, certainly a true libertarian would. But he’s relating a “real life“ experience, and, in case you haven’t noticed, people who call themselves “conservative“ have viewpoints that are quite different from how you portray them. “Conservatives“ are wanting to intrude on peoples healthcare, lifestyle choices, and bedrooms. In my real life experience, conservatives are judgmental. I appreciate your viewpoint about how a “true conservative“ would behave. But that doesn’t match up with how they behave in “real life“.

I am appreciating this “real life“ story about a young man finding his way in the world and navigating friendships, relationships, family, and sexuality. His description of conservatives matches up with how I have experienced them more than any idealized version of what that word means.

Just for the record, Erotic Stories is the exact forum where this story has been posted.

In that case, I have no comment because it is complete fiction passed off as reality. Also, A+ for use of graphics and the cut and paste functions. Of course, the notion of a "super conservative college" should have been fiction enough to tip me off that the story was erotic wank-fodder, and perhaps, belonged in a "make-believe fantasy" forum if one existed.

When I read "conservative college" I assumed "conservative Christian college" which is what I went to here in rural Canada in the 90s. It was not okay to be gay and it was not fictional at all. The dorms (strictly ALL MALE or ALL FEMALE) were a place that was terrifying for someone who felt gay and was raised to believe it was evil to be gay. So reading this story through my own filter of experience I find it quite believable.

I am also enjoying this story!

The "this story is real/fake" debate is, to me, as boring as the "gay4pay is a lie" debate. Readers are engaging with OP in ways that are meaningful to them, so I'm not sure what the big deal is. I would also suggest that advice is best received when it is actively solicited.

Looking forward to the next installment!
