Recent cruise ship experience.

I’ll be on the Celebrity Beyond November 8. Solo balcony cabin.
Are you still onboard? What's your itinerary? Do you ever lower the window in the infinite balcony? Does it ever break down while so many passengers pass through and playing with the switches?

Just got off the ship today. I lowered the when I was in the cabin. I even slept with it open. It gets a bit warm in the cabin but by the time I wake up in the morning I’m under the covers. I love listening to the water. It never broke. But this is a new ship. I do not like the infinite veranda. I prefer a real balcony.

As a cruise first timer, what's the process to get in the sauna or nude areas? Do I need to have a spa treatment? Or is it just in the locker room of the gym?

Depends on the line/ship. Some ships it is in the gym lockerroom. Some ships it is part of the spa. Even if it is part of the spa, it may be free. On ships where it is in the spa, and free, I usually have the whole place to myself when I go.

^ This.

Some newer ships are going with co-ed thermal areas only now, some have both (co-ed thermal suite, and separate male/female saunas).

I usually sail HAL and that is how their layout is on their newest ships - co-ed thermal suite ($$) and complimentary separate saunas available for everyone in the spa/gym area.

Thanks, both. Yeah, I saw the Thermal spa for $$$ and thought maybe they didn't have same sex facilities but I guess I'll see. Will report back in a couple weeks.

Over on the Cruise Critic Forum (for sailing on cruise ships, mind you), I found this handy google doc that lists all the ship lines and what they have:

Cruise ship saunas

Married and down low. Going on a cruise next year with the family on Oasis of the Seas. Every other RC ship I have been on had the free sauna/steam room in the gym locker room. Since Oasis does not, has anyone found a good place to play or “cruise” on board?

Great question! I'm going on Wonder of the Seas in late May and an wondering the same thing.

I think Voyager of the Seas is one of those ships that has been "amplified" to remove the single sex sauna and steam room.
