OMG I was on that tripI’ll be on the Celebrity Beyond November 8. Solo balcony cabin.
Thanks so much for the write-up. I have been on the NCL Gem and she has a similar set-up. Plenty of potential for play but unfortunately nothing happened on my cruise as well. So basically, all the NCL ships with names after gem stones e.g. Gem, Jade etc. have the same make-up. I will be on the NCL Star in May and can't wait for your review of her!Just recently joined LPSG as a direct result of doing online searches regarding cruising on cruise ships, particularly in the spa areas and sauna and steam rooms. I have been on about 20 cruises and I am so sad to think about so many missed opportunities to play! In my defense, most cruises I have been with my wife so I don't get out by myself much when onboard, but I also cruise more and more by myself so I'm looking forward to expanding my play time. Some of the info gleaned from this thread has been terrific, particularly the discussions and linked Google sheets with info on different ships. I am definitely going to be choosing my solo cruises in the future based on the sauna & steam room opportunities on board different ships.
That said, I will share that I recently finished a great Panama Canal cruise on the NCL Jewel and I subtly convinced my wife that we should get spa passes for the 9 night cruise, and it was the best thing ever, mostly because of the spa area on the ship that was awesome! There was a shared co-ed space with heated stone loungers and one pool area, with great views forward because of the spa located right above the bridge. But what made it awesome and has probably spoiled me to 98% of all other cruise ship spas was the men-only area of the spa. It was spacious and had a good sized steam room, then a huge sauna with windows to look out the side of the ship, then the best part of all was the whirlpool in the front area of the men-only spa area that had killer views out to the front and side of the ship.
I will tell you upfront that there wasn't any play to be had during the cruise because 70% of the time I had the place completely to myself. With it being men-only, I loved roaming around the entire area nude, moving from steam room to sauna to shower to whirlpool to just hanging out naked on a chair enjoying the views while reading a book. My wife was happy to do the same in women's side, even if she reported that all the old ladies kept wearing swim suits. WTF? Anyway, for the most part I fully enjoyed my luxurious private nude spa aboard the NCL Jewel even if it only included a lot of hanging out naked and some fun stroking in the spa area. The attached pics were from the day we were going through the Panama Canal and spent all afternoon watching the passage from a deserted spa area. I think there was less playtime during the cruise because of a large number of Central & South American travelers who either didn't know about the spa or didn't want to pay for it, or just don't like sucking cock in a cruise ship sauna.
I know the NCL Jade has the same layout. Unfortunately, those two ships do mostly Asian & Mediterranean itineraries so it will be tricky getting aboard one of them anytime soon.
BUT, there are pretty decent options on a number of other older NCL ships, with men-only areas with good steam and sauna areas. In fact, I did a solo transatlantic cruise a few years ago on the NCL Star and there was a notable amount of group play in the mens sauna & steam areas. More on that later....
I am mostly familiar with NCL ships as I have ended up as a Platinum Latitudes member so there are some nice benefits to that. The Jewel, Jade, and Pearl seem to be the same spa layout but the Gem seems a little different. Did it have a men-only whirlpool with a forward view from the windows? Hard to tell from the NCL website and deck plans. Thanks so much for the write-up. I have been on the NCL Gem and she has a similar set-up. Thank you for the full review. It is very much appreciated. I am all psyched about the Star now although I doubt that activity will be as much as yours. In a transatlantic, there are many sea days and loads of time to play. The itinerary that I will be on is port-intensive so I am cautiously optimistic on play. What time do you usually go to the steam room/sauna? I have heard late afternoon is good but I have also heard in the evenings when everyone is doing shows. On the makeup of the Gem, the men's locker room has a sauna and steam room. There are a few male-only whirlpools facing the front and as I recall, they are single seaters so not conducive for play in them.I am mostly familiar with NCL ships as I have ended up as a Platinum Latitudes member so there are some nice benefits to that. I was on the Sky years ago and it was free access to the mens locker room with steam and sauna, but I sailed it again last Fall and they charged $20/day for access. I still did it most days but rarely ever saw another soul. Too bad; the sauna had smoked glass windows that were difficult to see into but easy to see out of to see anyone come into the locker room. Could be a good place for fun. I had to implement my naked play time with banging a big breasted working woman in Cozumel before spending the rest of the day naked on the beach in the NE, empty side of the island.
The Star and Dawn seem to have the same layout, and I fully enjoyed the Star on a transatlantic cruise in 2017. I was traveling solo and looking for fun so I got the spa pass for the entire two weeks. There was a good mix of international guests of all ages. The men's locker area had a good steam room and a GREAT sauna. The sauna was large and L shaped, with the door on the end of the long leg of the L so you couldn't see in or out of the window in the door for most of the inside seating area. I'm not sure it would have mattered much because it seemed like every time I was in there, which was frequently, there were naked dudes hanging out and stoking. I liked to sit cross-legged in the corner on the upper bench. That gave open leg access to fondle and stroke, and on more than one occasion someone couldn't wait long before walking over to suck me off. Once there were about 10 guys in there, half of them stroking, half watching, until a young Asian guy just walked over and started sucking me off. Well, that started a major suck and jerk fest in the whole room.
I also had action on multiple occasions in the steam room, but the sauna was better suited for play. More space, dim lighting.
The Star also had a room that you could access from the locker room that was sort of an interim space until you got into the full co-ed area, but at the time, that sitting room area with nice views aft was still co-ed so you couldn't hang out there naked. As noted in my previous post, the Jewel (and Jade & Pearl) has a great, private locker room area with sauna, steam, ice bath, whirlpool, and chairs, with fantastic window views, and no security cameras because it is a locker room. So roam naked and could discretely play naked if others are so inclined. Worth every penny paid for a spa pass. Not always the case on every other cruise ship.
I need to do another solo cruise soon. A good men-only spa area is a must! This forum has a lot of good info in that regard. What I really need is a good ship, with good spa, that goes to places with nude beaches like St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Barts, etc.
Enjoy!
Unfortunately the Breakaway only has co-ed spa areas. However, I did play around with a guy in the steam room. Chances are very low on a ship with no single sex areas.Been on HAL several times and always found a way to hook up with multiple staff members. Never had any on NCL. Doing NCL next month. Anyone interesting stories about NCL Breakaway?
Been on many HAL cruises and always had several hookups with staff members. Did some NCL and others but that seems to be more complicated. Any stories about NCL Breakaway? Will be on in April![]()
Hooking up with crew is a big no no. That's terms for immediate dismissal for them.
I know but always a way to meet anyway.
It is definitely a different story on any cruise with lots of at sea days. Note to self: At Sea Days are not a bad thing. Haha!Thank you for the full review. It is very much appreciated. I typically do not use the spa in the evening as I am all into the entertainment. However if the Star has "lame" magician/comedy shows, I'd definitely be into hanging out at the spa in the evenings. Will be on the Star on May 11, 2023 for a cruise around Ireland. The pricing is awesome and apart from the Free At Sea promos, there's also buy one get one free airfare. Wanna join me the cruise and show me the ropes? LOLIt is definitely a different story on any cruise with lots of at sea days. Note to self: At Sea Days are not a bad thing. Haha!
I think the best time of day is always late afternoon, before dinner. I don't usually spend much time at the cruise ship entertainment so I will also frequently be in the spa in the last few hours of the day (they typically close around 10) but it is usually pretty quiet at that time. That would make it a great time for two or more like minded guys to play, but I haven't seen that much. Or at least as much as I would like!
When/where will you be on the Star in May?
I'm looking for suggestions for a Fall solo cruise on a ship with a good spa that is conducive to play. Anyone out there have any suggestions? I'm too lazy to fly across the pond for anything Med; looking Caribbean for the most part. But Aug-Oct is just not the season for many good options in the Caribbean. Maybe I will just have to go to Maui and hang out on Little Beach...

just visit the steam or sauna....I have been on 2 cruises and have never noticed that. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
