That was a blast from the past

The story of how I discovered that song goes back to the late summer/early fall of 1981 after a trip to California. Out there I heard "Superfreak" by Rick James, but it wasn't top 40 popular yet in the east. I went up and down the dial discovering college radio and all sorts of great music other than R&R. 105.3FM WDAS and WHAT 1340AM were playing the R&B. Doug Henderson and Lady B were playing the funk, dance, and early rap. I was hooked. On college radio I found the punk, reggae, and electronic. I discovered the late night talk radio oddness of Art Bell, Whitley Strieber, and locally WWDB with Richard Hayes who wasn't odd, but he'd get the odd callers in the late night. I couldn't live without my radio. Must be the music.

To make this post worth it I'll include some more great ones from that time...
