And yet the Oscar's don't agree with you but who cares the Oscar's are lame.

This whole snub thing is good for Oscar buzz and that's why they do this, every year.

I think the film is impressive, that they were able to defy the odds and make a good film out of a soulless corporate toyline IP cash in between WB and Mattell, is astounding.

This film should has no business being as good as it is, but as good as it is, it's still a soulless corporate toy ip cash grab.

Maybe I am just not following your points, The Academy nominated the film for Best Picture; it is you they seem not to agree with.

It's because it is by far the best movie and I went into it quite cynical

Best is subjective.

For me, there's about 30 movies that's better than Oppenheimer in 2023 alone. That move looks likes an Oliver Stone rip-off full of quick cuts to stitch a movie together. Nothing in that movie is new nor compelling.

Don't even get me started with RDJ who is merely playing some kind of version of himself.

At least Ryan's is an actual performance.

If Barbie flopped, Ryan and America would not have gotten an Oscar nomination. It's weird how the Barbie actors so desperate for Oscar validation. It wasn't that good of a movie. They are lucky to break records thanks to marketing and hype.

If there is anyone who is desperate it is RDJ. That guy is everywhere right now.

Oppenheimer should thank Barbie for the Barbenheimer hype and making a ton of money, now they have a lot to spend on campaigning for the Oscars.

Even Nolan himself admitted that Barbenheimer worked in his movie's favor. Once Nolan goes up there and win, he should thank Barbie. lol

Even Dua Lipa's Barbie soundtrack song is so acclaimed when if you are a fan of hers, you can tell that it's just another one of those rehashed melodies from her Future Nostalgia which was great by the way. And of course, since Billie Eilish is there, she will win whatever she is nominated in.

There is something off about Margot Robbie, she can't establish an already iconic character when Barbie herself is already an iconic brand. Ryan Gosling stole the show and Greta failed to make Margot stand out. Margot was better doing offbeat roles.

One factor to know is the second weekend. If a movie holds well during the following weeks, it means its connecting. By then, its the movie's quality that carries it through. Marketing and hype can't save a movie's second and third weekend because by then, many have already seen it.

Agreed. Reducing the success of these films to hype and marketing ignores the fact that "Barbenheimer" as an idea was generated by people on the internet. One of the unique qualities of Barbenheimer's impact was that audiences were genuinely excited not just to see the films, but to participate a social event. People dressed up and ironically played with the gendered aspects of the films and had fun with it. Warner Bros. and Universal had nothing to do with that aspect of their respective films' successes, and definitely benefited from it.

I'd argue that regular moviegoers did more for Barbenheimer than advertising did.
