I understand being disappointed that something you consume that you enjoy was created by someone who said they hated making it. Sean Cody is a fantasy in a lot of ways. I agree with the folks saying his statements are so extreme ("every time I was down there I hated it") to distance him from his past of performing gay sex while participating in a hyper-masculine sport.
