In the 2017 interview Shawn did in New Zealand, he said he trims his pubes. It's at the 10:00 minute mark:
He said he does or did in the past. Doesn't mean he regularly trims to this day.
Doesn’t even mean he really did it then. He said that it would be weird if he didn’t answer or didn’t say he did. Could be that he didn’t want to seem weird!
True. It's not uncommon to lie when someone asks you a weird or deeply personal question. Celebrities often lie in interviews.
This dude is 100% the next Josh Hartnett. He is going to disappear.

Josh Hartnett was one of the worlds biggest heartthrobs between 2001 - 2006; arguably THE biggest 2001-2002. He dated Scarlett Johansson, Rihanna, Gisele, Amanda Seyfried, etc but he retired from Hollywood and has made rare appearances ever since. He went from being truly everywhere to nowhere seemingly overnight. That gen z doesn't even know who he is is a testament to the disappearing act. I think Mendes will be in a similar boat circa 2035.

While I don't think Shawn is having the same destiny, I can see that's a possibility of some kind of "pause" in his career happening

Josh at one point was offered just about every major role in Hollywood and said no to all of them and Hollywood stopped offering.
