My husband cries when he hears this song. He says there are two more rocking chairs now.

Yeah, that rocking chair was a bit creepy to me when I first saw this video. After finding the story on line, I know what the producer had in mind but it's not any less creepy. And now there are three empty chairs - all died at relatively young ages. Anybody care to speculate about the significance of the antique locomotive and rail car?

I have a question for anybody who will take the time to enlighten me. This thread is posted under "Women's Issues". I can see that the topic could be directed toward women, though the title could have been more specific - such as, "Songs That Make Women Cry". But why would women be especially affected by THIS song? To me, it seems to be a song composed by guys - performed by guys - and (most significantly) directed to guys.

Big boys don't cry...big boys don't cry....

Lyrics
I'm Not In Love
10cc
I'm not in love
So don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because
I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I'm not in love, no no, it's because
I like to see you
But then again
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me
So if I call you
Don't make a fuss
Don't tell your friends about the two of us
I'm not in love, no no, it's because
'Be quiet, big boys don't cry
Big boys don't cry
Big boys don't cry
Big boys don't cry
Big boys don't cry
Big boys don't cry
Big boys don't cry

I keep your picture
Upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that's lying there
So don't you ask me
To give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me
I'm not in love, no no, it's because
Ooh…

Bloody 70's :)

He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother
Bill Medley
The road is long with many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where, who knows where
But I'm strong, strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
So on we go, his welfare is my concern
No burden is he to bear, we'll get there
For I know he would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
If I'm laden at all, I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another
It's a long, long road, from which there is no return
While we're on the way to there why not share
And the load doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

We're all brothers and sisters...

I’d forgotten Dylan was in the project.

My husband told me a funny story about that. George Harrison and Tom Petty wanted to form a band under a different name to play stuff they liked. Harrison went to pick up a guitar he left at Roy Orbison's house. He wanted to be in the band to. But they needed a studio. It seems Dylan had a studio, so they asked him if they could use it. Then they asked that he joined the band too. Don't know where Jeff Lynne came in, but he was probably at Dylan's at the time.

I don't know if it's true, but that's his story.

high school garage band 101. The bass player solos if it’s his dad’s PA.
