You can like whatever you want to like, but that is absolutely not what his career trajectory has been so far or what he's been interested in doing lol. He's a funny guy IRL or on SNL, but he is very obviously not remotely interested in being Jim Carrey. And in terms of stardom and box office it has worked out very well for him. Dune may not have been #1 but it did very, very well and whether you cared about it or not (it's not exactly my favorite movie) a shit-ton of people saw it and saw it for him.With the right script, I could see him being a huge comedic, Jim Carrey-esque romance comedy actor
Plus, this isn't 20-30 years ago. The reality is most romcoms have been flopping in the theaters for years. Like Tom Hanks before him, Timmy is not interested in being stuck as a light comic actor. I like comedies. But he's not doing them, and with a few exceptions most of them don't sell in American theaters atm sadly.
