Sorry, I didn't see what you saw. I found this portrayal to 'half-assed'. If you really want to see what a coming "out" coming of age sexual awareness, exploration, the movie Maurice is the one!

This scen as grabbed left me with the same question: How many times did they have to 'retake'? Something that should've shown a guy risking 'his life' to grab at something he hopes the other guy wants, all the while your hands are clammy, your hear is beating through your throat and you face possibly passing out because of increased blood pressure. Instead, I just saw two straight dudes awkwardly acting in a scene that I really could have done without! Frankly, I think Timothee and Armie didn't give good performances at all throughout the movie, but that's just my opinion

Hmm.. I kinda agree with you. For the most part, the acting is great. But there is some scenes where I could tell that Armie wasn’t really into it. Timothee, for the most part, played the part. Anybody else think that?

I wouldn't say Armie came across as not being into it. My take is, and I mean no disrespect, he's nowhere near as strong an actor as Timothee and the rest of the cast. He was the A-list name that likely got the project green-lit - and I'm sure he was all in. I would have far preferred to see an actor like Luke Norris as Oliver, but that's just me. As it is it's still a sublimely gorgeous film, and Timothee is a revelation. I proudly say CMBYN is my favourite film. Ever. Period.

I just watched call me by your name. Heartbreaking! It's actually really bothered me but not sure why. I relate so much to the characters and the feelings when people you love have to go. Timothee is fuckin genius, his vulnerability and love in the movie are so lovely. I'm still mulling over the whole movie. Its v weird for me!

I had the same reaction. Except I read the book first in November and then saw it in theaters that following January. It really does hit you like a ton of bricks.

Some actors aren’t willing to expose themselves like that. And before anyone says something like “then why was he naked in the movie?” It’s not the same to show your butt on screen for a scene to show your hard dick, even though it’s under your clothes. Maybe Timothee didn’t want us to know how big his dick actually is or maybe they didn’t pay him enough to agree to show his boner bulge who knows
