Wife and I are glued to the Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest Cam. Three eggs were supposed to hatch starting yesterday. Had to fight off some ravens... Had a big snow storm recently. So far it's a waiting game for Jackie and Shadow. Note: Jackie's record time to not leave the nest was at 63 hrs! It's pretty captivating.
I've been seeing a lot more of the male falcon these days, he perches WAY the fuck up in the trees guarding the territory. He's so high as far away my phone camera barely captured him.

You can see his greyish/blue wings, he's much less red than his lady friend.
Right after I took this she flew passed him and he took right after her dancing towards where I think their nest may be.
They keep me sane these days.

Now she's perched and I think he's sitting on the eggs. They traded places after a lil morning love dance above the field.

(By the way, if anyone here doesn't enjoy my animal friends keep in mind no one is forcing anyone to follow the thread. I'm just enjoying watching them from my porch and thought someone else might enjoy with me.)

My Sativa Diva recently realized she can kick it on TOP of her carpeted interior doghouse. She naps up there.

I just watched the falcons do the bird sex. I wasn't recording, and I think it's best that way. They deserve their moments, I didn't mean to be a voyeur.. I just happened to be enjoying them on their favorite tree and he did the deed then they groomed one another.

In a kinda sad follow up. Looks like the eagles eggs were not viable...(I even got a little teary when they called it). But as in nature, the eagles will go away for a while and the Falcons will come to complete the circle of life. For 30 days it was pretty cool to see them two work together on that giant nest. Hopefully next year!
Yeah, apparently it's pretty common among raptors.. they actually have sex to bond! Not just reproduce. So don't be too sad.
And, I know the feeling. Not viable. But you're right, it's life.
