Today's mood

So in my weekly angry rants about how unbelievably shitty recruiting companies, job placement companies, retail companies, service industry companies, and hell for the sake of not including all other companies lets just say ALL companies are let's take a deep dive into the world of bullshittery that happens with these recruiting companies/job placement companies aka headhunters:

This story opens up on a middle aged man who is trying to find a better job because the one he currently has is a big bowl of shit all wrapped up into a bigger bowl of shit. So in his desperation this man let's name him Bob reaches out to several recruiting companies for assistance in getting placed with a better job. After, a few days or weeks go by Bob gets several calls from said recruiting companies that are interested in Bob's background and skill set and they tell Bob "Great news we have several roles we think you would be a great fit for." Bob is now super excited because maybe...just maybe he can leave his current job for a better one so Bob calls back the recruiting companies that reached out to him and spoke on the phone with them listening to them explain who they are, what they do, and what roles they have available that they feel Bob would be a great fit for.
Bob is listening intently.

After, the recruiters finish speaking they ask Bob some questions about his background, his work history, and what he is looking for. The recruiters continue on talking about several roles they think would be a great fit for Bob so Bob decides to move forward with these roles the recruiters are telling Bob about. The next steps as they say would be for Bob to respond to their email that they are going to send after they get off the call they go on telling Bob that these emails are just giving them the authorization to represent Bob to these companies and also a few other questions about Bob's work history and what he is looking for salary wise and what not. Bob understands and states he will respond back to the email immediately once receiving it. The recruiter wants to know how long it will take Bob to respond back would it be lets say five minutes? ten minutes? Could Bob have it done within the next hour? Bob tells them he will have it done as soon as he receives the email five minutes tops. The recruiter sounds satisfied by Bob's answer and wraps up the call. After about twenty minutes or so Bob receives an email from the recruiter and he fills it out promptly and sends it back all within less than five minutes as he said he would earlier in the call with the recruiter. Bob does not hear anything back from the recruiter after the email was sent. A day goes by and nothing. A few more days go by and still nothing. Bob is getting worried that something happened so Bob writes the recruiter back via email asking if they received his email and inquires if they have heard anything about the jobs they offered Bob during their call.

Bob doesn't receive any response that day or several days after that. It has been several weeks at this point and Bob has not heard anything back from the recruiter he spoke with so he sends one more email this time including several other people from the same recruiting company that the recruiter he spoke with works for. Bob did a little research on this recruiting company and found several managers at said company and included them in on his last email. Days past and still no response from the recruiter and/or anyone that was included in on the email. Bob is confused. Bob is angry. Bob gets depressed because he knows he has to go back to his shit job because one person failed to do their job...their only job...its what this company does for goodness sake. Bob's job search continues on...........

Stay tuned for another exxxxxxxxxxxciting story from Bob.

Finally spoke with shit manager who said that what she told other manager was that "she was going in a different direction" and that she left it up to him to contact me. Come to find out he lied and is a liar among other things. What does "going in a different direction" even mean. The labor laws when it comes to employment have to change. You can't make up words and use it to not hire someone. The amount of shit managers I've had to deal with is unbearable and unimaginable.

It makes me even more depressed.

Hang in there. Send out resumes everywhere. Even places you wouldn’t consider. Even places you think are a joke. Of the major jobs I have had, two I fell into because I was a known quantity and available. They called me. One was a resume I sent out as a joke that turned out to be a great job. The joke was on me. I was hired immediately. Have fun. Be creative. Take a risk. All you need is one yes. And avoid dishonest people. They are not worth your time. Good luck.

well
they may have some ideas to keep you occupied duh
not that its likely to shake one from the mood he/shes in huh

Ok, quick. You’re in a strange city and you suddenly have some free time. Do you A) wander out on a voyage of discovery, or B) hunker down in your hotel room and get some work done? Look, both are valid options. You need to get stuff done. You LOVE getting stuff done. And who doesn’t love a great productivity appor hack, or the joy of a clean Slack sidebar? At the same time, though, a slightly aimless wander through a strange place can open the mind to new possibilities and true creativity.
.

It’s a great collection of stories, and we think they’re worth your time. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

HOW WE MAKE TIME

Productivity and the Joy of Doing Things the Hard Way
BY ROB WALKER
I like a good efficiency hack as well as anyone, but sometimes we should take the long way around.
