Idaho - seems to be locked in the boxers, boxer briefs or longer leg styles. Personally I don't like them and minus the ones that were purchased for me.

Based on what I can see in locker rooms and waistbands, boxer briefs are the most popular here in Illinois. Although, I find it hot when I can tell a guy is wearing spandex/bikini type undies underneath. Especially when it seems to belie that person’s character to have such sexy undergarments.

if I’m being honest though, I have many types of underwear and they all serve a different purpose.

I do have/keep a several pairs of boxers for around the house. I am married and have girls and like to be shirtless and sometimes pantsless so I just don’t feel right walking around the house ‘on display’ so to speak. Also, I like wearing boxers in the wintertime to sleep in as they feel warmer.

I am active and like to jog/run but my thighs touch so I wear briefs so I don’t have pull down boxers or boxerbriefs that have bunched up beneath my balls every .25 mile.

About the only type of underwear I don’t have are speedo/bikinis. The wife hates them and I couldn’t justify having them. I suspect this may be true for a number of married men. Wife buys hubbys underwear so hubby wears what wife likes.

What also seems to be increasing in popularity are the longer-length athletic boxer-briefs (compression shorts, basically) worn as underwear. The longer boxer briefs - even compression shorts as underwear - were popular here in NJ some years ago. I don't see them much anymore probably because guy's shorts have gotten shorter and a lot of those would fall below the leg hem of the shorts.

For that, briefs and boxer briefs are too confining. Boxers let it swing for all to enjoy. That being said, few things are more exciting than seeing a briefs line under a tight fitting pair of pants on a beautiful ass.

I live on the road 90% of the time and there are some distinct geographical preferences that stick out; last week I worked out daily at MIT's Rec Center and saw a ton of the swimmers & water polo players wearing thin cheap (hanes brand etc) style boxer shorts.

Currently I'm in Dallas, and Texas is the state im most likely to see traditional white briefs on straight men & boys of all ages but particularly on the athletic, rural, white jocks.

I am sure that the original poster knows that there are countries other than the United States. But with a country as large as the United States there probably are legitimate differences in underwear types that might be of some interest to some of us.

Fuck yeah! As a native Texan who hasn't lived there since the era when ALL the guys at school wore righty-whites, I'm glad to think they're still out there, esp on rural jocks. And speaking of, do you ever see actual jockstraps being worn?

Where I live and grew up in New England (keep in mind I'm on the younger side and so don't know much about older people), it's pretty much 70% boxers and 30% boxer briefs. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen anything else. Boxers are very much still the norm here
