Yeah, I know... You're right. I was saying to another dude that, even tho I think briefs are better, it's impossible to imagine college guys hanging out in their dorm rooms in briefs. Boxers seem to be the only possibility.
I'm not much of a freebaser, but I get that some guys like that and boxers are essentially that. The trouble with me is that my balls are the size of tennis balls, so you know.... ; )
Well, to each his own. I don't like freeballing that much and don't find them comfortable at all, except to sleep in I suppose.

Briefs are my preferred daytime underwear. I like how my balls feel with that little bit of support.
But if I am just going to be spending the day around the house doing office work or cleaning, I'll wear boxer shorts. And even on days when I wear briefs usually sometime in the evening I will slip out of them and slip on a pair of loose fitting boxer shorts. And then sleep in them. I don't like to sleep in briefs.

See I think different scenarios require different underwear, exercise briefs bikini jockstrap or thong boxer briefs the legs wear out too fast in the crotch unless you spend a hell of a lot! Boxer Briefs for being out and about keeps everything together and you have a nice chafe barrier and boxers for sleeping lounging or even going to the movies!
I literally cannot wear anything else. I don’t like how briefs or jockstraps look at all. I’m a young dude that most people would likely see as straight passing. I dress like a typical 20 something and I don’t like the look of those. Boxer briefs are uncomfortable for me. I’ve tried but I don’t like them either so I’ve just worn boxers since I was 11 and that’s what pretty much every dude I know wears so I’m not gonna fix what isn’t broken

Sleeping in boxer briefs is so supremely annoying the seam of the leg alwaya seems to catch me right under my left nut causing pain if I don't move! Ive been in boxers since the start of the pandemic I might make the full time switch briefs still for exercise and heavy house work. But thats jyst my opinion!
Huh. I've never heard that particular complaint about sleeping in boxers. Of course, I guess there are diff kinds of boxers, aren't there? I have loose fitting cotton boxers with wide legs for sleeping. I can't help feeling that there's no real difference between them and simply going commando to sleep. It's not as if the material keeps my nuts from going anywhere or interferes with my groping them as I sleep.
I went to college with most of my friends so we changed in front of each other often. Same with growing up with my other friends at sleepovers and whatever. Boxer briefs are just too constricting. I hate the way they feel around my thighs and how they push my bits into place and don’t let them move.

Interesting. I too dislike the over-coverage of thighs in boxer-briefs, and altho I am a briefs wearer and consider them very masculine, there are certain sets, usually high cut to show off upper thighs,(or, worse, thongs, which to me look like the underwear of women strippers) that I do indeed think of as feminine, like you do. It's a fine line.
The difference for me is that briefs show off your BULGE, and there's nothing more manly than that.

Here in the middle of Nebraska, it sometimes takes trends forever to reach us. Back in the 90's when sagging and boxers became huge, we were still wearing normal jeans and briefs or bikini briefs for quite a while longer. Now, I'd say boxerbriefs definitely rule the day but I see boxers fading out. Briefs are starting to surge again, particularly with guys wearing slimmer clothes, shorter shorts, etc.

More guys tend to wear briefs in rural areas than urban based on my experience

That is what I understand too.
A young guy that I know went off to the U of Tennessee for college.
Back home, this guy loved to hunt and to fish.
He connected with guys at college who were country boys and would go hunting and fishing on the weekends. He told me that they all wore tighty whities and so he decided to join them and started wearing tighty whities himself.
As someone whose moved around the states a bit over the past few years I'll chime in. At workouts in the local gyms I've definitely noticed trends. I was in the South (Texas, Alabama, Mississippi) and maybe 50% of the guys were wearing briefs, but only tighty whities. Only a few boxers. I don't think I ever saw fashion or bikini briefs. The other 50% were primarily boxer briefs and tended to be a little younger guys.
On the west coast (Oregon and Cali), I almost never saw tighty whities. If I did, it was an older guy. Same with boxers. It's pretty much all boxer briefs with a some fashion briefs mixed in.
In the north east (Mass and NH) I saw more boxers on guys of all ages, maybe 30%. Plus a lot of boxer briefs. A few briefs here and there, mostly fashion colored ones.
Haven't been to the Midwest much, so I'm curious what the trends are there.
