Underwear in other states?

As someone whose moved around the states a bit over the past few years I'll chime in. At workouts in the local gyms I've definitely noticed trends. I was in the South (Texas, Alabama, Mississippi) and maybe 50% of the guys were wearing briefs, but only tighty whities. Only a few boxers. I don't think I ever saw fashion or bikini briefs. The other 50% were primarily boxer briefs and tended to be a little younger guys.

On the west coast (Oregon and Cali), I almost never saw tighty whities. If I did, it was an older guy. Same with boxers. It's pretty much all boxer briefs with a some fashion briefs mixed in.

In the north east (Mass and NH) I saw more boxers on guys of all ages, maybe 30%. Plus a lot of boxer briefs. A few briefs here and there, mostly fashion colored ones.

Haven't been to the Midwest much, so I'm curious what the trends are there.
Let's hope they're sticking with the time-honored classics of guys in tighty whities.

Absolutely my same observations. Tho I'd say boxers were worn by closer to 50% of the guys (all ages) in the New England / Northeast area as that is what all the MIT jocks were wearing each time I was in the locker room.

I at first thought the same thing lol when an MIT water polo player posted last year on the communal shower subreddit bragging that he's "confused with all the comments re:college aged american guys never using a communal shower (or nude at least)". Because he stated his college Rec center showers were busy from open to close. Most everyone thought his post was fantasy / wishful thinking and he also refused to say what college it was.

after some coaxing via dm he eventually relented and said MIT... and I honestly laughed out loud and texted back "but who cares, ur a bunch of geeks?!"

Well I'm sure MIT has plenty of geeks and nerds but they ain't the ones working out and showering in the rec center

MIT had jocks? ; )
I wonder if boxers in the northeast have any connection with the presence of venerable prep schools where boxers would have been the norm for decades.

IDK about anyone else, but its mostly boxers for me. Most briefs or boxer briefs don't have sufficient pouch room to comfortably hold my package. The main exception is Duluth Trading Bullpen Boxer Briefs. If I'm doing or wearing something that really needs to keep everything in place down there, its either the Duluth boxer briefs or a jock.

Oh, and most of my friends wear boxers too.

First off this thread us for men who live in the US.

Do men wear certain types of underwear in specific states?

For example I live in California and all the guys I know wear boxers and boxer briefs.

Is different in other states in the USA?

I would love to hear you guys. Pics and stories are all welcome.
What about Jock straps in California as that state has a large gay population?

If a jock strap is candy colored = that's not a "jock" but called "fashion underwear" (or as my friends may say "down in texas f*ggot underwear).
I must concur. To me, the whole hotness of a jock is that it's a real athletic supporter that you'd see in a locker room. The more colorful, the more "precious" they become, and that's a turn off.

Did you get to see if the MIT shower/lockers were mostly still muscular guys, or were there more nerdy types too? lol

I travel for work, mainly east of the Mississippi River. I work out at probably 100 different gyms a year. In the South approx 10% of guys at the gym go commando, 10 briefs, 5% boxers and 75% boxer brief. In the DC to Boston corridor 2% commando, 15% briefs, 15% boxers 68% boxer briefs. In the midwest I see 5% commando, 25% briefs, 10% boxers and 60% boxer briefs.

This may be a repeat - I cannot remember what I posted and where - so forgiveness if it is a repeat.

I was in college '74-'80. East coast, and tighty whities were still ruling the day around here, as well as colored briefs. I wore boxer shorts back then but I was definitely a minority back then.

Except . . . All of the guys from the west coast wore boxer shorts. It seems that the boxer rebellion which would hit us here on the east coast in the 1980s had already started out here. The one exception to this was a friend of mine who came from Georgia. He wore boxer shorts but I got the impression that he, like me, was in the minority.

Its not USA but if anyone cares about it: middle Europe/Hungary: mostly shorter boxer briefs, or maybe longer boxer. Some briefs can occur haha. But absolutely no boxer shorts. Its almost gone. Personally I wear tighty whities
