Where can college guys pose nude (In post-Playgirl world)

I'm a photographer on Model Mayhem, and they can certainly do it there. There's even a nude picture of the day contest where they can compete. Its free and fun and they may even land a paying gig to show off their hot body. Any college-aged guy looking to do a nude shoot is certainly welcome to contact me either here or on gmail at califotoz.
So how does that work? I'm interested in male photography but I don't have a portfolio yet. Is it easy to find models on Model Mayhem?

In 2022, your best bet in procuring "wanabe male models" or "Instagram Models" would be to use—Instagram.

Even with a love/hate relationship with Instagram I have, I sometimes struck gold or feel like winning the Lottery, when I find a male model to model for me and local to me.

You being in LA should not be trouble for you in starting out your portfolio. My advice to you is...if you have "conventionally attractive" good friends, ask them to model for you in exchange for you treating them a meal of their choice.

If this is a fun hobby for you, I would simply recommend you create a new Instagram decided to this hobby. Don't be afraid to leave proper and professionally-sounding comments on the models' profiles.

I don't know if you know this, if the two of you are not following one another and you decide to DM, your DM will end up on a "spam folder" or Requests. You'll have to sometimes send a DM and leave a comment in their latest post, something like: Hello, I sent you a DM for collaboration ideas. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you."

When you do this, save/bookmark this post. Once the model accept the DM request, delete your comment.

Also...if the model reads your DM and decides to ignore your DM, you know this male model isn't interested and you'll remember not to bother him again in the future...make sense?

Wow. Thanks for sharing this. I think it moved somerhing inside my head, in a positive way. It's fascinating to see an absolute Adonis not be happy about his body and talk about his insecurities while an average Joe with receding hairline be so comfortable and at ease with himself. As someone who was severely bullied and got into working out to overcome insecurities, this was a suprisingly great video to watch. I started it semi-cynical and semi-horny, but I think I feel a smidge more comfortable in my own skin because of this. Thank you!

Hi, In LA it wont be hard at all. Take 4 PG-rated pics of guys (it can even be of you), upload them and wait for MM's approval. I like MM more than Instagram because it is easier to search and us a bit more "pro". You dont have to be an experienced photographer, just be willing to learn and not creepy! Many models are just getting started as well and welcome some good shots.

Thank you for the information. I just wish there was a more central, and not-exclusively Internet-based publication where college guys (and guys in general) could show their bodies and still be treated in a dignified way. Playgirl filled that need.
Dignified? Not exactly. You could pose for art classes. What is the purpose? To show off, to be beauteous, to make money, to get laid? Why don't you start the publication you dream of, with your friends? However, it's a bad way to start off your adult life. Would you want your relatives to see you naked? They will... You could start a nudist club, or nudist colony for students...

@Ponyhoff
I can't stress the part about being NOT creepy enough. Most of the society, the uneducated thinks us working professionals undergo "casting couch" and in the current #MeToo era, I recommend keeping your own personal space your personal space and never infringing your male model's space without consent.

For example, if you need to adjust a collar or fix strays of hand you HAVE to ask your model for permission to enter his personal space. Don't take any risks, because in the age of social media, people talk and the grapevine (with help of today's social media platforms) reach large audiences.

@califotoz is right about signing up at MM. You'll need to upload 4 pictures, a proper bio excerpt and have to wait for one of the moderators at MM to approve your profile.

Good luck.

How long ago did you do it? I did it back in the late 80's... The art classes in Chicago's wealthy suburbs paid very well. I would make $200 per hour for a fully nude pose.
Must have been a really wealthy area in the 1980s. Most of my gigs now are $50 to $100 for life modeling. University’s in smaller city’s average around $15 to $40 per hour. I’ve done a few $200-ish per hour range for drawing groups (non-university) but it involved a level of erotica or invasive type modeling. Since Covid I’ve done some online life modeling groups which can pay a lot more depending on the number of people attending and the site.

When You say a level of erotica or invasive modeling, what does that involve? Out of interest, online life modeling can pay more I suppose if it payment per student, but if it's not IRL, what's the difference between you on a cam and a photo?

If I’m a beginner photographer, do models usually get paid or would the pictures taken of them would be their reward?

It is roughly the same question you might ask yourself. Are you producing art that people would buy? Are you talented to the point where the photos would help them get more work? Someone starting out might agree to pose in exchange for photos ("TPF" is what you will see in ads) but anybody in demand could and should expect to get paid either in cash or something of value. Their time is worth money and that includes not only the time spent with you but the time it takes to get a body like that.

Most photogs and most models on MM do TFP (time for prints/photos). It is pretty clear on MM which models expect to get paid and they show it in their profile. Models have a large range of what they expect to get paid, and many of them are reasonable. Nude shoots are usually more. Give it a try, it is a good learning experience!

I’d like to say erotic modeling is more artistic than porn modeling but that’s based on opinion and it is a wide category. Perhaps better to say it’s less graphic than porn but even that can vary depending on opinion. Erotic modeling is modeling in a way that is sexually stimulating, or sexually arousing but generally not pornography. Could be as simple as posing in erotic clothing or in a sexual position. Could involve modeling with an erection. Could involve mimicking or performing a sexual act. Could involve masturbation and ejaculation (lines between erotic and porn blur). When deciding to do such modeling I generally ask if it has an artistic objective. Of course the artist being really cute may impact a yes decision (kidding).

Invasive modeling is more medical/ healthcare related. Like a standardized patient model used to train potential healthcare providers. Could involve the practice of any procedure you receive in a typical physical. Could also be a model used for the training of a piece of medical equipment.
One of the best paying gigs I did was for an ultrasound company demonstrating the use of their equipment. Yes it involved scanning certain sensitive male anatomy and insertion in other areas. No it was not erotic.

Online life modeling, IRL, cam modeling, yeah I get your point. I say real life is the best as the model is there in 3D form. Pictures are great for reference but the model is flattened and static. A little better for online modeling as you can adjust the angle and shift the model.

My perspective is that online life modeling involves more amateurs, people drawing for the first time that probably never would have attended an in person life session. Possibly it includes some first timers that may see it being more erotic? Requests to get hard do happen sometimes. Hey it’s all part of being a human male.

Out of interest what do you think would generally draw more work in modeling and also more attention from women, given the choice:

A well defined muscular physique with big arm muscles(not Arnold thought) maybe 6'2" with a 6 pack type of look with a very average sized penis(5.5 to 6 inches) and balls

OR

A more average skinny not very muscular maybe 5'11" male body where he was extremely well endowed maybe 9+ inches and a very large flaccid penis and balls.

Which guy do you think would get more work and more attention from the women?

In reality the very well endowed guy is probably much rarer than the muscular guy in terms of who your most likely to see on the street/gym

Good question and gets into the type of modeling. If basic figure modeling of the classic male form, the whole body is considered not just the genitals, so a guy with good musculature, doesn't have to be massive, is desired. In that case I’d say the well defined muscular physique is preferred over a skinny guy with a big dick.

If it’s modeling for erotic works where the dick is a focus then yeah big dick is desired. However… probable the guy to get most work, most attention from woman is the one with the well defined muscular physique and average dick with a good attitude and willing to adapt to the woman’s requests.
