Why Are Women Here?

I think it’s fair to consider in gay friendly to gay dominant.

I just don't like it when it gets labeled a "gay forum" when it's actually not. If it was just for gay men, there wouldn't be straight men or women here at all. We're here.

I wish I got to know that forum before it closed. It sounds like it was a fun healthy place as well. Why did it close? You don’t have to answer. I’m just curious.

Rob_E just got tired of running it. That's all.

True. Also, communities evolve. Similarly to how the women, especially the (c)oven, created a communal space here, men interested in men at some level, even if it’s just themselves, created a place to express that.

Indeed, and I respect that by not going into threads I have no business bombarding into. I also don't stick strictly to non sexual spaces of the site, though, and the woman centric spaces in the open forum should be a signal to the community that while it certainly does lean in a certain direction that doesn't make it a "gay site".

When people say it's a gay forum/site it's a way of uninviting other types of folk who are absolutely invited to enjoy the community. I just feel it's always worth pointing out that it is indeed an Inclusive community when I see someone refer to this silly penis palace as a place specifically for gay men.

We're all weirdos, and we're all welcum. ;)

Reading this, it occurred to me that I do NOT see this as a queer space. I wonder if it’s because I see so much predatory posting. Think of all the “I wanna do my straight roomie/friend/stranger/coworker/minister/cop. He looked in my direction. Is he into me?” stuff.
Which is both infuriating that it’s just such typical male behavior AND reassuring that it’s such typical male behavior.

Another thought on why I get confused about how people get the impression that this is a gay site: threads Everywhere about sex with women, posted by men. In the basement there's *so much porn* that straight/bi men are looking at.

Questions about sex with women. Suggestions about sex with women. Stories about sex with women.
Frustration over sex with women.
Assumptions about sex with women.

There aren't as many women here as there were on SexualForums but that's not really because of the fact that women aren't welcome to be here. SexualForums wasn't a hetero site, either. It was also inclusive. There are simply different vibes. Some like this place better, some the other, some liked both just fine.

I leave labels to individuals who choose to use them for themselves, I prefer not to assign them to entire communities which I don't represent in any official capacity.

Much love to @neutrno ... I'm not trying to hound on ya. There are many examples of this kind of post around the site and I just think it's worth confronting when I see it.

I think if folks exist in a very heteronormative space LPSG might feeling like big gay Oz. Lots of places on the webz are inclusive with the feeling of 'straight but welcoming' by merit of membership being mostly straight.

I personally consider LPSG to be a fondue pot of freakery. The communities mingle across the site, not just coexisting on a server. That is the ultra-groovy.

My follow list and social group pals are a healthy mix of all genders and sexualities. LPSG is also my preferred social media, not a flat out adult site. Maybe why a person is here skews the site gay or straight? Easy to see how a 100% person from SF might meet a bit of culture shock. Not a huge shock, like static electricity in the winter shock.

That's a pretty interesting thought I did not expect, regardless of this being a forum about penises, I have never previously felt this forum was targeted at any anything remotely homosexual at all.
In fact, I feared this place would be a bit too straight for me. But after looking through for a while, I came to realize it isn't targeted at any specific group, however, a place for all! I otherwise wouldn't have joined if this was only for straight individuals.

Personally I'm getting the impression that LPSG is currently being both marketed and trending as a "Gay Site" (which there's absolutely nothing wrong with btw).
At the home page/log in screen I'm greeted by a large, auto-playing, very hardcore gay ad. Right below the word's "We happen to have the sexiest male members you'll ever meet".

In any forum other than Women's Issues/Ask a Woman, most of the threads I open or am about to open are or inevitably become gay male themed and thus exclude me entirely. I'll open or mouse over a thread asking "Have you ever.. " and the first line is "Guys have you ever _______ another guy?" and excludes me right away. I was actually about to post a thread asking for people to be a little more inclusive with their questions considering there are still people of all genders and sexual orientations on this site but it seems like a futile endeavour.

I realize that this site needs to make money to cover operating costs and be worth Mr. LPSG's time, but being greeted every single time I come here by a huge auto-play advertisement showing men fucking and eating other men's asses certainly gives the impression that it's a "Gay Site".

I don't get the ads, I had no idea that was even happening.

To each their own, but I won't ever see this as a "gay site". I guess I've been here long enough to know it's just not.

So where would I get the impression that this is not a gay site?

And if this is such an open-minded fun-spirited sexy adult community then why does it have to say "we have some of the sexiest male members"? Can't it just be "members"?

Is that implying that I haven't?
The site is continually going through changes and what this site was 5, or 8 years ago is not what it is now. Most changes have been for the better. Regardless what LPSG demographic is trending at the moment I don't understand why this site can't just be left totally gender/sexual orientation neutral so that everyone can feel equally welcome.

If other people see it as a gay site, cool. I just don't. I've explained why. I point out that it wasn't created as a gay space, and that is in fact inclusive but sure it may have morphed into something it wasn't originally. Doesn't mean it's meant to be a gay community.

If that's the direction @Mr. LPSG is taking it, that's his decision... I'm just posting based on my experience as a member.

I don't have ad-block. I don't always stay logged in. I dunno. I just don't get the ads. Not sure why.
