Why I feel bad for this person? Am I wrong here?

There are human rights organizations that reported about gay men baited, tortured and even killed in some "correction camp" in Georgia. I've just watched a few weeks ago an interview with a gay guy that now live safe in another country about his story. Many of his friends died after being tortured. You could see the horrorific things that man have seen by his eyes. Also their president said something like "there are no gay people in this country". Please, never go in that country, EVER!!!
Omg! I'm sad and angry that people have to get through those horrible things because of the sexuality!!
and thank you for sharing the info, I've been changing my plan for a while now; but still don't know what to do

in fairness, I think I confused Georgia with Chechnya in regards to "correction camps". Georgia still remains a very homophobic country, where it is better not to go.

Here's an update:
I don't feel bad for him anymore cuz he's a terrible person who didn't respect my time. Besides, most of my friends just moved back, and I'm so happy about that. Yesterday, me and my friends were hanging out while talking about many subjects. Coincidentally, my best friend works at the same place as that shitty guy (it was like a private camping school), so basically her boss hired that guy while my friend was away. And she told me the reason why he got fired in more detail; it turned out he's a super terrible person, screaming at the boss while kids and parents were around there, and demanding to pay excessive money the first week he worked there. And my friend, who kinda introduced him to me, told me that she only met him like twice prior to the time I met him (her birthday), and she didn't know him that well. So... life moves on, and I hope I meet a better person in future lol
