I'm not attracted to a man simply because he has muscles. What I do admire and appreciate is years of hard work and dedication (as I've done it myself). It's not easy. To be successful, it really does become your lifestyle. Lift, eat, sleep. And if you have a real job, you have do work around that. Then when it's time to get ready for a show, the diet starts. Food intake changes. Cardio sessions become once if not more per day. It's a lot of work and dedication to stay on track.

That's why for every 100 or so wannabe BBs, maybe 1 or 2 will make it to the "big time" and make their living from the sport.

I think if I was a straight body builder I wouldn't either... Bodybuilders may have lots of gay fans but they don't do bodybuilding to get sexualised by gay people. The programmes/workouts they sell aren't being bought by their gay fans lusting over them. Also, i'm sure a lot of times they're made to feel uncomfortable. Gay people tend to be unhinged when it comes to commenting on people who they think are attractive. It's not "oh you're really handsome" or "your physique is insane" it's things like "yep he's a top", "i bet his gun's pink", "i'm thinking 8 inches". And, based off the comments in here people are also suggesting that most of them are gay. Why would someone want to support a community where all they receive from them is sexualisation and constant questions about their sexuality. Thirty years ago, I worked out at a hard-core muscle gym, the kind where you didn't have to wear a shirt while working out. These guys were serious about their bodybuilding. Most of them knew I was gay. They had no problem with it. They asked me for spots, and offered spots. We had conversations on the stationary bikes and while resting between sets. They never wished me a "Happy Pride Day". They didn't have to. I knew they were my friends.

Many of them had no problem being full-frontal naked in the locker room while I was there. We showered in open showers. We would have long conversations when we were standing around naked. Back then they didn't manscape at all in the time between competitions, full bushes over big dicks over dangling balls.

One time at one of their weddings, one who had too much to drink asked me if I wished to explore his body. I would have, but I told him "no". I didn't know where it could be heading. He told me he appreciated the compliment. It didn't change our relationship one iota.

I think there is a lot of generalizing here. Only when you get to know a person do you know what he is truly thinking. I still work out and I'm open about being gay. Bodybuilders still hang out naked and shower with me. I'm comfortable enough to tell them they shouldn't be manscaping. They just laugh it off.
