Have you ever had to share a hotel room with a coworker on a work trip?
Male or female coworker?
Why did you have to share/what led to sharing the room?
What level of nudity, if any, was there? Were you comfortable in your underwear in front of one another? Naked?

I've shared a room with a co-worker. We shared a room because con related real estate is hard to find. There was no nudity. We slept in pajamas. Me in a t-shirt and shorts. She wore real PJs with lil foxes.

Sorry for a complete lack of girl-on-girl porn subplot.

I also attended a conference during which I shared a room with a work associate. Why? I didn't ask. I just did what I was told. I took advantage of the extra face time with a more experienced salesperson. I asked loafs of questions, both personal (to find out what drove her success) and professional (for the same reason). She was as gracious as she was wise.

Why would there be nudity? We were not friends. We both wore wore nightgowns and bathrobes. We both wore slippers in the room, and flip flops in the shower. She saw where I left mine drying, and put hers next to them, which is the only reason I know. We were both taught by our parents not to let public surfaces touch our skin. We both brought our own pillows and pillow cases. I thought it interesting we were so much alike. She let me try her hair oil. I let her try my moisturizer. We were courteous about noise, light, and use of the bathroom. We waited for each other each morning, and went together to all the same talks and demonstrations. We had our meals together, and with other members of our team. I was very attracted to her, but I would never have wanted her to know. We were colleagues, not friends.

I haven't worked for some time but back when I was dress making I used to attend bridal and prom conventions, there was a couple times when I had to share a hotel room with a coworker (female) two single beds and 1 bathroom in the room.
I certainly wasn't uncomfortable about anything, sure there was nudity when getting changed, showering and using the bathroom. I didn't think anything of it tbh and the people I've shared with have been the same from what I can recall.

I've had a job where sometimes it was necessary to travel and share hotel rooms between a few workers.

No one ever got naked. There are wash-rooms functioning doors. They work wonders.
Older European hotels don't always have bathrooms with doors.

Didn't know that. I've never been outside the states.

So speaking specifically about my own experiences, I've never been in a situation where being seen nude wasn't optional. Especially in a situation involving coworkers.

Fox is a code name for my sweetie.

Covered in Fox, huhuhuhuh..(in my best Beavis and Butthead voice)

Yes.
It’s all about being at angles where you aren’t looking in.

When I lived on Ren Faire circuit, we adopted a sense of privacy based on how one was dressed or where they were. We didn’t greet people before they were dressed for the day (and you had to know them, dressed having a lot of variance), or if they were walking TO the showerhouse.

It carried over to roommate situations. I don’t greet in hallways.

I read Jan Yoors’ book about living with the Lowara Romani, and he described a similar value with the kumpania.

Had to share rooms many times with female co-workers due to budget restrictions. No nudity, though. Pyjamas and robes, maybe just a towel depending on how well we knew each other.

There’s nothing sexy about sharing a room with a co-worker. Just a couple of friends chatting, getting to know each, deciding where to eat at night, finding out who snores worse. No nip slips or pillow fights. It’s TV, reading, work, and chat.

It's okay! A number of you have mentioned this and apologized for not having it, and thats okay! I'm actually not that interested in that.

Basically, a friend of mine is on a work trip right now where she's sharing a room with a colleague (they might not actually work for the same company). She was a little skittish about it before she left, which is weird because we used to go on trips as a friend group and she'd have to share a bed with another woman, let alone a room. And she's been in her underwear in front of me, let alone other women before, so I'm not really sure what she was hung up about. Just trying to understand the dynamics of rooming with a coworker.

Thank you for the responses.

Basically, sharing a room with a co-worker is an extension of office etiquette. Dress modestly, act appropriately, respect each other's space. She should opt for PJ of underwear. Shower with the door closed. Dress in the bathroom if possible.

If the co-roomers are friends outside of the office, of course, you can be more casual with each other. Still, it's best to stay on the side of caution and decorum.
