Are Chinese/japanese People Not Attracted To Black People?

Sweeping generalizations do not a fact for every individual make.

As an Asian in a years long relationship with someone who happens to be black, fuck off with your bullshit.
Good for you but this is not about your anecdotal evidence. Fair skin is considered beautiful in Asia, it's well documented. You can't argue against facts with your personal opinion.

People of Asian decent and African decent are not a common pair when it comes to dating. In the gay world, it’s even less common. People already discussed the racist aspect of it—Asians perspective of dark skinned people.

But it’s no harm to Black gay men. Very few of us are searching for Asian men. If you get rejected, move on. Asians ate the even checking for Asians on the apps, far too many what White men.

And yes...African American English is real. The internet is your friend, people.

Neat. I bet you're a foul mouthed, immensely corrupt person then. I mean, that's well documented about people in Brazil. If you say you're not, that's just anecdotal and not worth shit.

Yes. I am taking your shitty, sweeping generalizations about myself and my culture personally.

If ppl wanna bitch about how pop culture/media tends to have certain types n preferences and throw shade at Asians.... Asian cultures sure as fuck aren't the only ones. Latino, black, Asian, and others tend to push the ideal that pale skin is more beautiful.

True, Brazil is corrupt, it pains my heart, and asians are colorist, skin bleaching cream is a billion dollars market in Asia. Both statements are true.

As a man of color i fully concur how colorism has touched just about every ethnicity worldwide. I think where a distinction gets made is how that colorism developed; whether it was self developed from their culture, or imposed upon them by some colonial power...and in the case of asians i think they get thrown under the colorism bus maybe more so than others because it predates european influence, wherein black and Latino communities' struggles with colorism stem directly from it.

Theres actually more than just cultural reasons at play there. Its a dated status/wealth symbol in a lot of Asian countries. (and other countries as well)

In times long past, people who worked poorer/less educated jobs (such as farmers, etc) worked outside and generally had much tanner skin. While noblemen, and wealthy businessmen, and people higher up in the social heirarchy usually stayed indoors and didnt see nearly as much sun in their everyday lives. If you were a person with lighter skin, you were typically associated with being of a wealthier/noble class.

Its funny though, because the people who were of a lower class back then were also generally skinny, while people of the wealthier classes were usually more well-fed and didnt get as much physical activity. So back then, it was also considered more attractive to have less of a toned physique, and to have a little fat on your body.

Funny how times have changed, and some public opinions have evolved, while others have withstood the changes that come with time.

Pretty much spot on! It wasn't too many years ago (during my lifetime) when this was true in the US.

Why are Chinese/Japanese people, in general, not attracted to black people? I’ve never seen a Chinese/Japanese woman in a relationship with a black man in public.

Try to name me one celebrity couple from the top of your head who fits this description.

I also experience this a lot in the LGBTQ community. Even on dating apps like Tinder - As a good looking black man, I have never been “matched” or been “swiped right” on by a Chinese/Japanese person. Out of all the matches I can see on my profile from all kinds of ethnicities, this seems to be a common occurrence.

In Chinese/Japanese culture, are people brought up to believe that darker skin is unattractive?

PS This is just my personal experience and not in any way intended to be offensive to anymore. I’m just curious about this and would love to hear other people’s thoughts and experiences :)

I'm a Chinese student studying in London, and I have a black boyfriend at the moment.

From my experience, a person's tendency to be attracted by another (certain kind/type of people) is largely dependent on their upbringing. In China particularly there isn't much exposure to black people (compared to caucasians) in the media, plus there are way more white expats than any other races. You might think that in Western countries there exists a stereotype of asians going for caucasians, but I think if I were to ask my Chinese friends abroad, they would still prefer to date another Chinese person. So I think that in a largely homogeneous society it is only natural for most people to have a homogeneous preference on spouse.

Another important factor is that being light-skinned have had always been the cultural-historical beauty standard. We have a traditional saying called "一白遮百丑", (vaguely translated as "being light-skinned covers up a hundred flaws"). Several years ago internet neologisms such as "白富美" became popular, which literally expresses a standard for an ideal woman as "having a fair complexion, rich, and beautiful". I believe some other users above had given explanations to this and I won't go in on this deeper. But in recent years people are starting to care less about the fairness of complexion. As for myself, I never cared to wear sunscreens since I was little and I personally prefer darker/browner skins on men.

There is so much more that I could talk about, but I just want to point out that when I first arrived in the UK, I thought it was the other way around. I consider myself to be above-average looking, and yet I rarely get matches with other black guys on Tinder; I would say 95% of the likes that I receive are from white guys. It was even worse on grindr lol, I rarely got any response from black guys.

Typical gaslighting. We can acknowledge how systematic and cultural racism plays a part in [interracial] relationships without being dismissive of the initial poster’s question (or the responses).
How does it play a part? Does sex has something to do with racism? Please elaborate.
The claim, that is often made, is that you privilege the race that you prefer sexually.

The sexism against women, that exists since centuries, should have never emerged with that logic, because men would privilege women. But they did not in the past.

Sex is more ambivalent, in my opinion.

Is the data correct?
United Kingdom - ethnic groups | Statista

Blacks seem to be only 3 percent of the population in the UK. So I think this is normal and you confuse it with the USA.

Or how does this Tinder work?

Well...I'm a black American .....light skinned, Spanish looking, but black none the less. I have had a girlfriend from Vietnam, a beautiful Hmong girl from Laos who worked in a dollar store in South Philly. We "hit it off". I had a very pretty Chinese girl in the local dry cleaners pinch my nipple and run her hand against my penis while measuring my inseam for a new pair of pants, and then took me back in the back of the cleaners, and dropper her pants, bent over, and wanted me to fuck her right there. I did. Mmmmm... good times......Never had a Japanese girl....but there is a Japanese lady at the local Wawa (yes, I'm from Philly) who likes it when I say hello in Japanese to her. Kho-Nichi-wah......!!! My son spent 7 years on Japan, so If he's like me....I'm sure there was some body fluids exchanged. Also had a couple of Indian/Pakistani Girls I was involved with...so much for the non-mixing of the cultures. I'd as many asians of various stripes as I've had other races.

The only enduring dislike of black people as romantic partners seems to come from demographics wholly removed from black communities, because once either college or living in a metropolitan area kicks in everybody tends to be fair game for everybody, only with very specific portions of particular ethnicities being at a statistical disadvantage.

I think it is more often that the majority practices identity politics and exclude the minorities in this way than the other way around. You usually do not hear of gay people that often that are saying they cannot identify with straight people, but you hear it more often the other way around. In my opinion, that is the same why some people are against Blacks or general minorities. There are surely also Black majority regions that have the same problems. The racism evolves when you practice identity politics.

Similar to sports: if you do not identify with a sport club you accept all clubs equally, but if you identify with a club you are biased against other clubs and sometimes hate them. The same is true with religion and politics.
