"bbc", "mandingo", Is It Racial Fetishization Of Black Men?

This is why the relationship between race and the porn industry is challenging, difficult yet its so complex.

It’s a similar situation to being addicted to your phone; you have this realizations of quitting- cold turkey, but you also need your phone because it’s essential. Ugh whatever

I think that tweet is valid for real life interactions, not the porn business. Not sure if he's referring to the business or interpersonal affairs here though.

As I already stated before, there is inherent objectification within porn. You are being sexually objectified for your physical traits, dick size, race, hair color body type etc.

Sometimes you are fetishisized for non physical traits too even. That is unavoidable.

Is it black men or is it black dick because there is a difference? First, “black” men come in a wide range of shades. Secondly, men from many different cultures have black dicks, not just black men. Latino and Indian men, for example, have dark (black) genitalia. I’m just throwing that out there because I’m curious if the arousal and turn on is the color of the man or the color of his genitalia.
Men who are of other ethnicities with dark skin are not classified as black and from what I've noticed, they aren't fetishized as black men are. "Black" generally refers to black men from America, Africa, or the Caribbean. There are Afro Latinos that would would be classified as black also. South Asian men can very dark skinned but they are not identified as black and they are not fetishized the same way that black men are.

Seeing him of all people tweet that is ironic. He is one of the black gay mainstream performers that kind of contribute to the fetishism. He mostly does interracial and he mostly tops in those interracial scenes but when he started out and was performing with only black men he was a bottom. I feel like he buffed up and fit the image of the "BBC" that men of other races desire and he butched it up. I think once he's out of the industry if he isn't already he will be speaking out more about this for clout. You can't really complain when you benefitted from it for so long. I see a lot of black porn stars gay and straight decide to call out the "racism" and "fetishism" in the industry once they are washed up but they also contributed to it to some degree.

You cited facts.
At the beginning of his career, he was a bottom, something he tries to erase at all costs.
Then he reinvented himself as a BBC top to hit the BBC market niche, choosing very white and young bottom boys as his partners.
It is somewhat hypocritical for him to say this if he reinvented himself to fit this niche and profit from it.

I think it’s not just the objectification in Porn, but also the social prejudice against those who are different or poor. American culture, unfortunately, has an obsession with putting people in boxes.

Not only black people, but Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, foreigners of other ethnicities, and poor white people get slurs.
Italian immigrants got slurs a lot, poor white people are still getting slurs like “white trash,” “redneck,” “hillbilly,” “white cracker,” and people from the South are stereotyped as “impressively dumb.”

In an aggressively capitalist culture, money is all that matters. It doesn’t matter what your ethnicity or race is, if you have money, you matter. If you don’t have money, you get slurs. Fortunately, people are waking up and understanding that this kind of culture is harmful. People should be valued for who they are, not what they have.

In my opinion, I believe he will win the lawsuit and receive compensation, but he will have to change his line of work afterwards.
Porn is a very restricted market. Anyone who sues a studio usually ends up on a mysterious blacklist, because studios are afraid to hire someone who has already sued a competing studio.
I think the performer acted correctly and I believe he will easily win the lawsuit, however.

lol he benefitted from the BBC stereotype for years without complaining but now that he's getting older and the white boys no longer find him sexually desirable he's decided to speak out against racism in the industry

Black men in part perpetuate it. It's not as simple to say it's white-led porn studios that push it.

Though the entire "black men have bigger dicks" thing has never been proven. Even if it were true, why? A bigger penis isn't required to inseminate, nor is it needed to make insemination more likely. So from an evolutionary standpoint it's baseless. Why would black men need bigger dicks anyhow?

Explain if you don't mind. I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this idea that black men perpetuate the myths which lead to the fetishization of them. I've had this discussion with others and recently a friend of mine who is not black expressed similar sentiments. He claims that black men like being regaled with the "big dick" myth and tend to elude to it themselves. To that I'd say that some black men don't really care or think of fetishization as something bad or racist. If their sole concern is to get laid then that is their focus and they know that people are size obsessed so if that will get them laid then they use it. That doesn't mean that MOST black men are into it or lead with it. It is also important to understand that men in general, whether black or not, will use their penis size to their advantage when it comes to getting laid. Some black men do the whole "BBC" thing with other black men so that's not really a good excuse. The problem is the automatic assumption about black men's bodies being a specific way. Those assumptions are not made about other non-black men's bodies the same way. It's similar to how a lot of people would assume that tall men automatically have large penises. I used to see a guy that was 6'5 and he had an average sized dick. He expressed to me how some men would always be a little disappointed that his dick was not 9 inches plus because his stature. I relate this to how other men tend to think about black men but solely based on race and not stature.

It's a fact that they do. Hence they add to the problem. Even if some and not all peddle it, they do aid in perpetuating it.

That doesn't contribute to the conversation. Most if not all men that are hung, perpetuate it if that is the case. You make it seem like black men are the only group of men that push this idea of being hung and that it means they somehow desire to be fetishized. I think it's important for black men to understand that it's pretty much already assumed that they are hung regardless of them saying it or not. I deal with men of all races and I can assure you that most men that are hung will use that to their advantage regardless of their race but it seems that a lot of non-black men who fetishize black men claim that black do it more than others and therefore they like being fetishized in a demeaning way.

The issue is much more complex than it appears. Both sides presented opinions that are in line with the truth. I want to give a more elaborate answer when I have time. This is a subject that I consider very pertinent.

I offered my points. Stop twisting things. it's obvious that this entire fetishisation is stemming from "white culture" or a history of racism. Black men do add to it. The subset of black men you know don't comprise all in America. How can they not? any addition to a trend by definition sustains that trend, no matter how small or minimised.

I think that the fetishization of black men occurs both by white people and by black people. I find it difficult to dissociate the nation's slave-owning past from the fetishization of black men by white people, because, unfortunately, black men were seen as procreators. I find that regrettable, but I will not turn a blind eye to historical errors.
On the other hand, there are black men who take advantage of this fetish. While some black men rebel against this fetishization, there are others who use it as a strategy for personal and/or financial profit. It is the black man who presents himself as a fetishized man to a white woman, saying that, with him, she will know what a "gifted" man, a "real man" is, as a strategy for flirting, dating or sexual encounters. It is the black man who, as a sex worker, boasts that he will guarantee an unforgettable night of pleasure to the client - woman and/or man - because his extra inches will make all the difference.
Of course, times are different today and social relations have changed, fortunately, but the truth is that, in everything, there will be those who disagree and there will be those who use something to their advantage. I am not saying that there is a right or wrong side, but I think we should look at social relations within a context, because stereotypes exist.
However, I am not in favor of victimization because, as I said, times have changed. And struggles everybody has.

I don't think you're objectively wrong, but for this to be a final conclusion ignores so much context. Societally, I don't think black men in general are valued(in a relationship sense) inter-or intraracially for enough things beyond purported sexual prowess to not lean into what tends to be our one "leg up" in the mating and dating market. I think unless you're willing to say also that every asian woman that maintains a smaller than average figure, and a demure personality is somehow perpetuating the sexual stereotypes of asian women, that a little grace needs to be offered to black men, especially within Western culture. Interestingly enough, though the tendrils of colonialism make it nigh impossible for indigenously black cultures(African) to not be affected by Western influence, I've observed that the black men within them are much less bothered to perpetuate any penis expectations because much like within Asian and middle Eastern cultures, they are more valued for their fertility, and societal status/contributions. Western culture by default devalues the social status/and contributions of black men and tends to see our fertility as a threat.
