Brock and Boston mikesell

He isnt allowed phone calls or communication with family until saturday which is when he face times them and catches up. Every other photo brock gets to post is because its automatically uploaded to the cloud. Ive talked to rhett leroy about this and he confirmed this and confirmed that the only time kesley gets the chat with brock is on saturday, same for his brother and everyone else
Sad. To be punished to prove loyalty to christ.

The gangs back. He needs surgery? A month into the "loyalty to christ" mission. On a liquid diet. And randomly Betsy (while applying makeup) tells the story of how her friend or friends friend was randomly on the same plane as brock. (Rolls eyes).

I'd never want my mom talking about my medical issues to all her social media fans. Can't imagine.

Shes got a bread roll in her hand now showing everyone what she's gonna feed him after his surgery.

Is this not all a bit much?

People like you are insufferable.

I believe that Brock has to use a Church-sanctioned/provided Android phone and leave the Apple ecosystem behind for the two years. To him that's one big sacrifice!

We wouldn't want those door-to-door Mormon Missionaries to look too glitzy or ostentatious in less wealthy districts with their Apple phones...
The Church doesn't provide the phones. The missionaries purchase them themselves before they leave.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of being on a mission To leave your ordinary natural life? he's on social media every day posting with his smartphone and I thought none of this was allowed. The family made it like theyll never speak or hear from him in 2 years. And yet they are able to communicate at any time of the day, just like as if he was in college.

Can someone explain the sacrifice? Jews on Yom Kippur give up everything. Washing. Eating. Drinking. Electronics. Absolutely everything. Catholics and Muslims do similar.

What is the sacrifice here?
Someone else already said it, but they only talk with their families once a week. Back when I served it was twice a year, but I think they changed it, because so many missionaries were struggling with derision and anxiety(and found stupid things to cope). Now they are able to talk once a week to help with that. As far as social media goes, I believe it's mostly only Facebook. They can only use it for missionaries purposes. Many post videos or images about Christ and other gospel topics, or share testimony, etc. They can also use it to contact people they're teaching or friends of people they talk to or are teaching. It's only meant to be a teaching tool. Not a glamor thing. You ought to do more research. There's a reason social media stars and celebrities usually get sent to other countries. They're less likely to be recognized as a public figure. All that being said it's still a huge sacrifice even with the advancement of technology and social media. You try being away from home as a fresh young adult relying mostly on members of the church for dinner, when your family used to cook for you every night. Try living by yourself with a complete stranger that you have to spend 24 hours a day with(someone you could become great friends or mortal enemies with). Try having abusive companions, whether it be physical or emotional. Try being rejected everyday by strangers when you have something to share that you know(or at least strongly believe) will make someone else's life better. You try watching your new friends that you're teaching decide they don't want it anymore and stop contacting you. There can be significant amounts of emotional trauma, so you're ignorant if you think there's no sacrifice.

Thank you for the correction! I could swear I recalled Brock saying (a few times) it's an Android that's furnished for communication purposes, because the phone has to run a specific app tied to the church (that wasn't Apple App Store approved), and furthermore, the phones are subject to inspection/review. Perhaps all that is accurate, but Brock (and/or family) have to purchase it rather than "provided". Brock joked a few times about getting used to his Android phone and its jankiness, etc., at least in the perception of coming from an Apple ecosystem.

And thank you, too, for sharing your mission thoughts in your one-later post. I did see this post once that I thought well worth reading (admittedly only one person's viewpoint) and wondered how Brock might cope with a lot of those dynamics.

So it's exactly what i said before. Being tortured to prove loyalty and adoration for christ.

I forgot to mention that they pay for their own mission. They worked and saved up in advance.

Doesn't bother me, just have an opinion on it. Relax.

And yes, my opinion is that there is no reason a sect need give up pleasures of life (which they'd believe were God given) just to show they are doing said gods work. No sex, masterbation, social media, etc.... doesn't make a person more god serving. Deep down you know that but you want to puff your chest out. It's okay with me.

Doesn't mean it should be asked of them to make the needless sacrifices in the name of serving a lord. They and everyone can do tremendously good work without asking them not to crank one out in the shower. Let's be real here.

bro you are flooding the threads with your opinions on religion over and over and fucking over. Give it a rest! One time is fine sure but no one cares after that. We are here to talk about how hot he is. I promise you no one gives a damn about my opinion or about your opinion when it comes to religion here.
