A lot of guys get too serious too quick when they’ve spent a lot of their adulthood closeted and they develop some feelings for a guy. Less than two years ago he was claiming how happy he was in his hetero commitment and promoting a book where one of the central themes was how “not ‘gay” he is. You put that with his desperate desire for fame, and it all comes off messy. But good luck to them.

I don't know about that one. He did say on the site that he hadn't had his "cherry" popped. I wouldn't be surprised if it was mostly oral. But I could be wrong.
I mean, many guys spend years sucking dick/getting their dick sucked and not indulging anal. Some guys convince themselves that it’s not that “gay” if they only do oral. They can then feel like they’re being honest when they claim “I’ve never had sex with a dude”. Just like some dudes can do everything with a guy but claim it’s not “gay” behaviors because they don’t kiss dudes. You also have some guys who strictly top primarily because they feel it’s “less gay”.
A lot of people play mind games with themselves instead of actually confronting/being real about the dimensions of their sexuality, their preferences, their struggles, where they are in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic attachment, relationship comfort, emotional investment, commitment spectrum. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he lied about not taking to up the ass yet. You just never know with people, and especially Colton.

I hope this isn't a quick decision and they have a long and happy marriage. It's an understatement to say he's taken a shitload of flack this past year (some deserved, some not) and I hope he settles into a happy life.

I'm basically in that group but have never felt stigmatized. Maybe invisible within gay culture or others' impression of it, but hardly stigmatized. Back when I was having casual sex, it also didn't seem to be a problem.
I try not to make assumptions, but Colton gives me “basic, prototypical ‘gay”. Sexuality, lifestyle, preferences, psychology, love, relationships, the overall spectrum is wide and varied as hell. However, the only slant with him is likely his upbringing, religion, privilege, a bit of narcissism.
