If he did get bigger, you can't see it because of how oversized the costume is. Maybe they can shrink it in the dryer or something. LOL

I'd assume the suit is that big because they don't want his movements to be hindered for action scenes. Black Panther's suit looked similar behind the scenes and they gave it that slim fit in post-production.

The uniform follows the visual and size pattern exactly the same as the one James wore in Guardians of the Galaxy. It's clearly a visual and VFX option for the direction.
