The interesting thing about this series is that the kids never seem to want to have sex - when I was a teenager it certainly wasn't like that - we were gagging for it. Is this an attempt to make the story more palatable for the hets?
Wouldn't normally comment on a thread such as this which is more about discussing his sexuality and being filthy rather than just appreciating him for who he is. But I personally love how the show isn't sexual... it's a huge stereotype that us gays are overly sexual and all we want is a fuck. Personally I'm not like that and for me, this show breaks the stereotype.
Carry the hell on.

I love the pace of it.

Thoughtful words hang in the delivery. Responses are considered. Kisses linger. Emotions stew. Texts are scrubbed three times before the send icon is pressed.

Even the lines and delivery of the bully, Harry, feel spot-on.

It is truly indulgent, and all the better for it.
They were so right in bringing on an intimacy counselor for the show because all those scenes are so much more elevated

What I like the most about the series and the comic on which it is based is that all the characters, even though they are gay or bi, don't fall into the typical stupid stereotypes that always happen in LGBT content series, plus the fact that they show us actors who are young and close in age to their characters and not adults in their 20s or early 30s playing 16, which has always seemed super weird to me but it's Hollywood and nothing good comes out of it.
what do you mean? I think the jock falling for the skinny nerd is an overdone trope.

I love the show for many things, but mostly for - its excellent representation of so many queer characters, its success in showing that queer love is just as beautiful and wholesome as straight love (which is so so important) and for giving a lot of people, loads of healthy expectations in relationships.

A lot of TV shows use older actors because of the mature themes that are presented. Take a look at euphoria/gossip girl/genera+ion/etc. none of those shows would be possible if they used actual 15-17 year olds.
Heck, even Heartstopper used older actors that are 17-22 to play kids age 15-17.
Disney and nickelodeon does a better job, but those shows are tamer than heartstopper
There are greater restrictions on child actors. They aren’t allowed to work as many hours and require tutors. So it makes more sense to use adults but great to see that there are only a few yrs in the difference not a decade or more.

You're so right,it sets up this unrealistic unattainable fantasy, and it's so bad...this masc sportive white straight passing dude....a white muscular guy as the beauty standard

That's also why everyone and their mother is now obsessed with kit Conor, because of this unrealistic ideal...

technically Charlie is supposed to be half hispanic and has a darker complexion in the comics, but yeah I agree. Hopefully people dont take it that way and just see it as a beautiful queer story.

Nearly every story has been told, in which case no story will be made.

Its how the story is told.
So if all you got from it is the nerd is chasing the jock, I think you completely missed it. The filmmakers literally made his interest on Charlie clear from the first two episodes.

Kit's character is interesting and inspiring not because he's the jock which the nerd fell for.
But because he's the jock who fell for the nerd and came out because of it.
Some of you seem to be always looking for something to complain about.
We are not complaining about it, we have to look at it from a different point of view so that we won't romanticised the whole narrative that maybe a masculine straight passing dude will fall in love with the feme skinny guy and be realistic about it and just enjoy the show just as a fictional depiction and nick Nelson is not a real person...kit connor the real person won't fall in love with us and his sexuality doesn't matter... it is at the end of the day a fictional acting role

Telling people it's fiction is not exactly dropping deep knowledge on the thread.

Many of us here are long since out of our teens. But it's sweet and inspiring to see not only for the people we were but for the younger generations who are still going through it. And yeah, more real kids like these characters (both Connor's and Locke's), who fit certain molds in their social groups, can feel more emboldened to be themselves because of this romantic fable. There's nothing wrong with any of that no matter how you choose to parse it.

If your posts on the last page are literally complaining about how 'bad' it is they're telling this story with this kind of character, then this doesn't have to be the thread or show for you. Bye.

But that's not true. Another poster just said he had the same experience. (I don't know if he's a Nick or Charlie though). Regardless, stories can inspire and have a positive impact, whether its realistic or not should not, or does not, stop stories from achieving that.
