- k2m,
In my group, most gay folks see this series as beautiful and heartwarming but also as a slightly fantastical wish-fulfillment for young gay folks. But I feel the actual strength of this series lies in how it normalises and celebrates queer relations. In a manner, I feel this series will make a bigger impression on straights and youngest queers. We are not complaining about it, we have to look at it from a different point of view so that we won't romanticised the whole narrative that maybe a masculine straight passing dude will fall in love with the feme skinny guy and be realistic about it and just enjoy the show just as a fictional depiction and nick Nelson is not a real person...kit connor the real person won't fall in love with us and his sexuality doesn't matter... it is at the end of the day a fictional acting role
Personally speaking, I know at least 3 bi guys who at the end o the day, never accepted their sexuality. Nick's incredibly honest acceptance of his feelings, his *bi* feelings is so wonderful in this respect.
I agree that a lot of the attention Kit is getting is tied to his masculinity, his physique, his ginger handsome looks. But as Nick Nelson, you see a masculine guy who accepts his feelings, acts on it and fights for the guy he loves. I think this will help any guy in a similar situation become more honest about their sexuality and feelings.
