Exactly, You just get used to being around your teammates in various forms of undress/naked day in and day out for practices and meets, showers and away games. Its just second nature. You kind of just know what everyone's packing, and have seen most every guy on the team pop a boner at least once or twice. You're all 18, 19, 20, 21 at the time, so you are all full of testosterone and young male energy, and you are all teasing each other and trying to one up each other all the time in that competitive environment. You didn't show it off, but you didn't try to hide it either. If it happened you'd get several jabs and comments then just keeps showering and move on. Boners were not an uncommon occurrence.

I think for people who didn't do sports its sometimes hard to fathom, but once the shame of nudity is lifted among a bunch of guys, you just end up joking around with it and being really comfortable around one another

I had the same work environment before the accident.

We surveyed the bush in teams of two, one supervisor, usually stayed at remote work camps.
The showers in the camps were usually a row of shower heads in a tiled communal bathroom.
Roughly 5 shower heads, only two ever open at a time and nothing to block views. We all got to know each other and showering together was just a thing.

I did learn very quickly that some bush worker dudes do not fuck with shinanigangs in the shower like God appointed them the keeper of fun but most of the dudes talked, chatted and joked around grabbing bits or washing a back.

I miss the working bush life alot. We were a family team that took care of each other.
