People have had that conversation and it's both uninteresting and disingenuous.
The truth is is that the break up is symptomatic of the show's broader problem - it no longer has anywhere to go, nor is it seemingly interested in doing anything new or changing in any way. It has nothing interesting to say as every plot point is a rehash of the last six seasons.
Buck's "story" is boring. Eddie's story is boring. Nobody else even really seems to have one. That's assuming they even get any screen time at all. The whole show is phoning it in at this point.
I no longer care about this show because the show no longer cares. It's just spinning its wheels.
