Lou Ferrigno Jr.

Not to give you false hope, but Tim Minear has been known to make things up as he goes along. Lou says that when he returned for this season, he was told there was a chance that Buck and Tommy would break up and Oliver only learned that Buck/Tommy would break up between filming episodes 3 and 4. Also, Tim is very busy right now being the showrunner for 911 and at the same time working with Ryan Murphy to create a new 911 spin-off/pilot for ABC.
I know this is the false hope for Tommy in 9-1-1 main series but still positive hope his main role in new spin-off.

I really don't know what to think about the whole thing. On the one hand, things look pretty bleak for anyone hoping for Lou to return to 911 as Tommy.

On the other, I can't help but feel it might happen. The story could very easily go for a romantic make-up later in the season.

To say I've been swinging between these two states of mind would be putting it lightly.

If Buck and Tommy do get back together, I don't expect it to happen until this season's finale.

And I think it's bad timing for the show to break up Buck and Tommy right after the 2024 election. Gay community and parents of gays is now constantly on guard for the next 4 years.

Yeah, that was poorly timed. Like, I'm angry too, but I can recognize that perhaps part of my anger is redirected from, or amplified by, the election results.

The whole situation is weird, the breakup came out of nowhere, Ep.6 was originally ep.4 and was moved around because ABC demanded a halloween episode so they included a Buck/Tommy storyline where they were happy just so the break up could "hurt" more. Lou never actually said he was permanently leaving just that he was gone for now which is now obvious its because of SWAT, the journalist who interviewed him is the one who actually implied that and her twitter shows she's a massive buddie fan and openly dislikes Lou. It's bizarre.

Maybe there was backstage drama,,,who knows….it started as Bucks bisexual journey and it soon transitioned into a Buck Tommy romance…one journalist recently posted he has never seen this outsized reaction to a guest star leaving a tv show…I have to imagine that the show had to know how popular this story became…

I think they know now. I guess we can speculate that they hadn't realized quite how popular it was before all this started.

Though they must have had some idea because my understanding was that Lou was only intended for a short stint but they kept him on due to the favorable audience reaction.

I just think they didn't anticipate Tommy's popularity and knew that they only had Lou for a limited amount of time due to SWAT, so they decided to write him out in probably the worst way but still leave the door open for a possible return later.

I hope this is true but to be honest, I'll believe it when I see it.

I wish to see him in new upcoming 9-1-1 spin-off as main cast. He deserves it.
I had a thought that it would be really great to see him as a main or even the captain of the new 9-1-1. He's managed to make lots of people including myself, love him with minimal screen time.

Plus, Captain Kinard is such a hot image. Even if Buck isn't there, Tommy sleeping his way through the men of Hawaii (or wherever the next spinoff is located) would be really hot.

Of course shirtless Tommy is all we need
