Senate Staffer Caught Filming Gay Sex Tape In Senate Hearing Room

As German I like to contribute to the topic:

1. In Berlin Sex in Public wouldn't be a scandal. Sex in the Parlament would be a public issue. But what he did would not be punishable in Germany. Only if a third person had come into the room would the whole thing be an administrative offense - which would legally be comparable to exceeding the speed limit of more than 20 km/h in traffic.

2. I don't think it's a matter for Georg how investigations are going in the U.S. since I read he already returned to Germany for Christmas. It is part of the german constitution that no German is extradited. No matter what he did abroad. However, if he's still in the USA, it possibly changes the situation.

3. German newspapers report on the incident ranging from amusement to seriousness. A conservative newspaper reports here most quickly and most outrageously. Website is NIUS.de ; Story is on the front-page. (just use a translator if u can't speak more GERMAN than "Bratwurst" or "Jägersoße" lol)

4. I enjoy that America finally got fucked by Germany. (I imagined it to be more glamorous and would have expected a real twink. After all, the cock was thicker than the usual bratwurst)
@Nudygy The last line of this guy's post touches where I think the extreme reaction comes from. It's a humiliation for the US and is being shared/experienced as such. The emotional reaction is not because of homophobia (even tho some people are saying homophobic things). It's because the act was all around, incredibly disrespectful (moreso than your standard issue workplace infraction) on both their parts. IMO.

I agree. I wonder, though, if some Americans would be less offended if their fellow-American was the top...

Haha! Quite possibly. But still, bottom-shaming is more akin to misogyny (a sort of disrespect for the receptive sexual partner) than to homophobia IMO. Like, if it were a heterosexual couple, people would still be less offended by an American man railing a foreign woman in the capitol than a foreign man railing an American woman there.

Yep, agreed. But the gay part adds fuel to it among the homophobes, too.

What a fucking idiot. Of course conservatives are using this story as outrage bait. This dude just reinforced all the negative stereotypes about gays just because he let his desire for online clout ruin his judgment. So stupid.

His face isn't great and his hairline is about to go, I doubt his porn career will be long lasting.
He’s not responsible for how Conservatives label gays. He’s one man. If people are ignorant enough to put the acts of one man on an entire community, that’s their problem.

Unfortunately, though, it happens all the time. In this case, I imagine it appears as "proof" to many conservatives or homophobes that they were right all along. It feeds into their narrative that gay men are sex-crazed, brazen, narcissistic, animalistic, etc. I agree, though, that he's not responsible for them feeling that way.

All i can think of rn is just the Italian Tifa thing from last year and how an equally important facet of government was "demeaned" by some sexy shit. Didnt really mean anything then as it did now, just something to point and laugh and go "aw really, you dumbasses"

I hear you, but wasn't that a Zoom call? LOL! Not sure Zoom is "equally important" to Italians as the US Capitol is to Americans (especially after J6).

I agree. I think there is also a gay echo chamber where this kind of behavior is extremely normalized (even praised) and then they go out into "regular" society acting a fool and are surprised that normal people are disgusted by their depraved behavior. This isn't to slut-shame, because do whatever you want to do in your private life and what-not, but doing these things in public buildings is unexeptable for most people, gay or straight.

On a separate but related note, I don't think this is a behavior that is exclusive to gay-men, I think it's just men in general. If straight men had broad access to this level of sexual freedom, they would be doing the exact same thing. And the ones that have found women that ignore the societal pressures regarding female chastity/purity actually do these kinds of things as well. The gay community benefits from the idea that it's "normal" for men to want and have as much sex as possible and there is less of a stigma because of it.

There's always been this divide with gay men, and likely always will be. I guess social media just makes it much more open to everyone else to see.
Nah he posted a lot of inappropriate content on Instagram (some related to work and sexual fantasies about politicians) as well as on a Twitter account and Reddit all of which clearly show his face and use variations of his real name. He's not a victim here. Yes, someone shared the senate hearing room video from a private telegram, but he was blatantly wreckless with sharing explicit content related to work online in general.
That's another part which annoyed me. Some of the comments he made, in a work photo he took with the guy, were about an openly gay Congressman in a swing district. We haven't heard that he was involved in any of this mess, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is used against him in the elections.

I don't know that his comments reflect badly on Sorenson. This guy Aidan is the one with the obvious boundary issues.

It will also be your problem as those people vote and make laws that will affect you.

The frequency of an infraction doesn't impact its severity. Murder or theft aren't suddenly less serious because lots of people have killed someone or stolen things. Also I think the homophobia is minimal here. People are emotional and offended because its humiliating. A representative of the US government (elected or not) shared a video of himself getting butt-fucked by a foreigner (German citizen) inside what is supposedly one of our most secure federal buildings. That just doesn't sit right with folks and it's honestly strange that anyone would try to minimize that.
Homophobia definitely plays a part. If a Dem female staffer filmed and posted herself getting plowed by a German at work, she'd get fired and roasted online, but the noise from the right would not be nearly as loud.

Boebert gave a handjob in public surrounded by families and kids and didn't even get fired

There would be a ton of slut-shaming; she'd of course be fired; there'd be a lot of straight-male identification with and envy directed towards the German; there'd be a lot of late-night-TV jokes about Germany invading; but no broad-brush commentary on straight people or women "always being like this."

It's a burden it seems we must bear to have the actions of a few of us affect the majority's opinion of us all, a burden we share with other small and historically despised minority groups.

Even if he hadnt crossed the line and fucked at work, what kind of political career did he really expect to have? He was constantly going wild on Twitter, Insta, Reddit, even VENMO. The second he got anywhere in his career, his opponents would've had plenty of ammo to sink him. And that's his own fault.

Homophobia is a factor, but with Boobert, that's more because she is a Republican so as long as she doesn't anger the wrong people in power, like Cawthorn did, they won't care. In Virginia, a Democrat woman was running for the state house and when the GOP found out she and her husband had done Onlyfans, they spent a lot of time and money humiliating her and making sure she lost.

Yeah I vaguely remember the Dem woman. Like...you're really running for office with an Onlyfans? Guuuurl....
