But stating an opinion like that will make it sound like people enjoying it are wrong for doing so.
I think stating an opinion is just that. We're all over-sensitive about criticism, and we Americans more so than most. In fact, we've all turned a little bit into delicate people to the extent that living abroad and looking in from the outside it's very clear.
A typical example is "what would you like to drink?" Logical "a Coke, please". Typical of late from younger people "i dunno... uh, maybe a Coke?" to which Europeans would reply "well get back to me when you know, I can't decide for you." It's not courteous, though that's how we've come to see it. For that reason, outsiders get a little frustrated with us when we travel.
No one really needs to state "it's only my opinion, and maybe I'm wrong" before speaking. If not their opinion, whose is it? And if they think you're in the wrong lane, who cares?
