the second the casting of joe on the agatha show was announced, twitter and tik tok started throwing a fit and fancasting jewish actors to play the role instead. if tom had gotten that role, he would've likely gotten the same treatmentI've not seen any of that regarding Joe playing Wiccan rather than a Jewish actor. Either I don't spend enough time on the internet to see this, or it's just a loud minority shouting for it who fail to realise the MCU isn't the comics. Besides, it's only rumoured at this point he's playing Wiccan because of fan casting.
So a small but loud minority, as per usual. Hate how Twitter etc. is now seen as the general consensus of society. I would bet 99% didn't even give a fuck. And again, it's not been confirmed, only rumoured he is playing Wiccan.the second the casting of joe on the agatha show was announced, twitter and tik tok started throwing a fit and fancasting jewish actors to play the role instead. if tom had gotten that role, he would've likely gotten the same treatment
And yet people didn't really complain about Elizabeth Olsen playing Scarlet Witch and Oscar Isaac playing Moon Knight. We all know the real reason they don't like Joe Locke's casting, but I'm going to be nice today and drop the subject.No. Wiccan's thing is that he's gay. And people would throw a fit if an actor who's not openly gay/bi played him. They're already throwing a fit that he might be getting played by joe, when they want a jewish actor to play him
Because he's adorable and some idiots are blind? Yeah, we got it.We all know the real reason they don't like Joe Locke's casting, but I'm going to be nice today and drop the subject.
Actually, the character Oscar Isaac played in Moon Knight is white as hell in the comics, so there's no whitewashing to be had there. Nobody cared about casting an actor of color in that part nor should they. What they changed was adding an actual Middle Eastern love interest, which was appropriate given the source material.I think it's more important that even if they cast someone of a different ethnicity, they make sure that is part of the character. Which they didn't do with Scarlet Witch and barley did in Moon Knight. I know that wouldn't address the issue with what people specifically had, but at least they're being more authentic to the original character.
Sure, let's go with that.Because he's adorable and some idiots are blind? Yeah, we got it.
Moon Knight is Jewish in the comics. Oscar Isaac isn't. That was what the "controversy" (if it can even be called that) was about.Actually, the character Oscar Isaac played in Moon Knight is white as hell in the comics, so there's no whitewashing to be had there. Nobody cared about casting an actor of color in that part nor should they. What they changed was adding an actual Middle Eastern love interest, which was appropriate given the source material.
If you have another thus far unstated reason someone would object to Joe Locke possibly playing Wiccan other than "I don't wanna jerk off to him" just say it, but maybe not in the Tom Holland thread.Sure, let's go with that.
