What's for dinner?

Tonight I was a little bored so I dragged out the bread maker and made fresh home made pizza dough.

I topped it with home made tomato paste, thinly sliced roasted lamb, pan fried potato slices, fresh rosemary, camembert cheese, a handful of roughly diced swiss brown mushrooms and garlic.

Done in a blistering hot oven and finished off under an equally hot grill until the cheese was molten and bubbling.
Finished off with a big handful of arugula leaves and fig balsamic to cut the richness.

Was reliving my Navy days tonight and had a hankering (as we say in the
South) for some SOS on toast....ummmm so fucking' good (as we used to
say aboard ship).

SOS = Shit on a shingle...(a dried beef and thick white sauce mixture served
on toast)

Tonight MORE Pasta.

I've gone vegan tonight with a pasta made without eggs and a sauce made of a cup of soaked cashews, steamed pumpkin, onion, carrot and sweet potato and garlic blitzed in the blender until smooth and thick. Salt and pepper added and then poured over the pasta and garnished with plenty of chopped garlic chives.

Tonight will be my grandmother's chicken and dumplings (cut into strips...
1in wide x 6in long x 1/16 in thick...somewhat similar to wide noodles.....
rather than the dropped globs of dumplings which are too doughy for me :().
It will be served with sides of fried rings of breaded okra, along with some
diced buttered rutabagas with cracked black pepper....and some sliced
cucumber and onions with baby grape tomatoes soaked in a diluted apple
cider vinegar.
I made a deep dish apple pie last night, so will have that with some vanilla ice cream.

Cashew nuts, bananas and can of Tango orange - hey it's Friday night

Tonight was Joe Marzetti or Johnny Marzetti....I've heard it called both.
It was served to us in the US Navy and I loved it. :p
It's a macaroni (or wide noodles) casserole....with ground meat (pork and beef), tomatoes,
green peppers, onions, celery, mushrooms (I use cream of mushroom soup and sauteed
mushrooms), and sharp cheddar cheese. Baked in a casserole with a cheese topping.

It's awesome!!!!!

I opted for take away from a very good little Italian place - spaghetti marinara. Just superb. All the different types of seafood was done to perfection. Went perfectly with a well chilled Chardonnay, a green salad and some crusty bread.
